Thank you ThisisOurs! aloethree needs to stop labeling brutal honesty as arrogance.
We won't advance if we can't acknowledge our problems first. It's no secret that the average Bahamian "skilled worker" is far behind those in other countries. It's a fact. Let's acknowledge and shift our efforts to rectifying this.
Pot calling the kettle black my dear. And why would a non-Bahamian be reading the Tribune? It's hardly a source of major global news. You should check your facts. We are light years behind other countries in terms of agricultural output.

No, you're perpetuating hate-based discrimination, as you're endorsing this "us v.s. them" mentality. Sinners or not, lesbians, gays, etc. are citizen of the Bahamas and should not be discriminated against b/c some closed-minded bigot like yourself thinks so. I won't engage in anymore discussion with you.
Please, the Bahamas/Bahamians are not being targeted b/c of envy. Most south Floridians can't even recognize a Bahamian accent. And, run our economy? Subsist on our own oil? What dream world are you in? We are so dependent that we can't even feed ourselves, importing 70% of our own food. I swear, if there's one problem we as Bahamians have it's that we're too proud and arrogant to recognize and admit that we have problems.
Your comment is ridiculous. You refuse to go to the US since 9/11? My dear, this could happen anywhere. You have a higher chance of being hit by a car in Nassau than being affected by a terrorist attack in the US. Also, keep in mind that the US has dealt with things far more serious than this and is usually up and running the next day. It's not the Bahamas--they're equipped to deal with this, so the shutting down you speak of is far-fetched
For a people as arrogant and prideful as we can be, how ironic is it to now look at other countries to justify/make us feel better about our own problems? Of course police brutality happens elsewhere, but that does NOT make it ok.

A small price to pay compared to what we already pay for imports. Also, you don't get revenue from imports. That's exports my dear.

Yes, the Bahamas needs to take a look in the mirror because this is a social problem. Our society/type of parenting reinforces violence.
