Mrs Rolle represents the best of Bahamians. Stepping up and taking responsibility.
Very sorry to see crooked rich boys ripping off Mrs Rolle. Who knows how this affected her family, lots of families.
I just stopped to watch the documentary. Lessons learned. Someone should setup go fund me site for Mrs Rolle. She should get paid back double just for doing the right thing. That’s possible in today’s world of social media.
This show really gives some insight into social media and marketing, and what can be created. Fabricated.
Opportunities for Cubans are increasing. Agriculture leads the charge, but liberalization is happening. The point is that Cuba protects its sovereignty far more than the Bahamas. It's a valid point and consistent with the spirit of the article.
They also control crime far more, have a high literacy rate, and have done an exceptional job protecting their reefs. They do plenty wrong, but they are much more far sighted than our government. We are economic bottom feeders in many ways, and marginal negotiators. I hope we can improve this over time.
How is such trash allowed to be published here? Does your mother know you speak this way? You do this effort no favors. We need a waste treatment facility for your mouth. Sheesh.
I'm appalled. You're either from Florida, or just have an anger problem that needs immediate attention.
I'm embarrassed to have fellow Bahamians speak this way. Mr. Rolle is doing what he thinks is best for his country. Even if you or I disagree with him, your statement is crass and embarrassing. It fails to make any point,,except that you cannot make a solid argument without attacking a gentleman, math at even if misguided, is representing a majority in our country. Most people believe in sensible development. I don't support this project, nor any development that doesn't take great care to protect our natural resources. At least Fred Smith would ever speak this way. Don't erode his efforts by making this opposition look belligerent and unreasonable.
Of course those moored boats pump out their waste. I hate to see development as much as anyone, I'll admit that bias, but the fact here is that people want little harbor to stay the same forever. What does the science show?
Is there actual science supporting the need to forgo thus development? Every single project does face resistance. If we had a functional process for permitting and EIA then we would not have to revisit this every time there is a new development or expansion.
The Bahamas can't just be for the rich that want nice views and no additional development. Nor can we destroy our national treasures. We have to take the middle way, and if the proposed marina is accurately represented in the above photo, and they intend to add waste management for sewerage, then this could be a net improvement. We have an embarrassing lack of pump out facilities throughout the archipelago. In NC, state funding helped install many of these sites and pumpouts are $5 most places. It perfect,,but it works. In FL they are ruthless about pumpout, west coast US too. They will chase down boats, board, and flush dye down the head and issue citations for anyone who is pumping overboard.
Who really thinks these boaters are pumping out properly? Where? I could be wrong but from my experience, boaters and shoreside development are having a real impact on water quality.
Anyone who dismisses this is not being honest with themselves. These are the observations of someone who hasn't just spent a long weekend in Nassau. There are many fine things about our country. Living and working in it aren't one them any longer. The politicians set a poor example. People look outside themselves for answers, when the answers stare us right in the mirror. Each and every one of us is responsible. Not the system. Not something outside of us. I don't know what it will take to turn this around but I fear we will be brought to our knees before we take meaningful action. One day people will flee these islands like Haitians and Cubans do theirs, unless we can actually do something, rather than talk.
