I hate to see how they are trying to legitimize such a corrupt practice under the guise of charity. Meanwhile, the other ones are saying it will help in keeping them honest. Their logic is frightening.
Several MPs have come forward talking about how they spend all of their salaries on their constituents. If they can afford to give away their whole salaries, it sounds like they don't need a raise.
It is not news that they had help ashore. The Guardian report showed a man being captured in a shanty town, but no word on whether or not the people who harbored the man were also arrested. I have seen Haitians, the so called Haitian-Bahamians to be exact, boldly state in social media groups that they will not turn in illegal Haitian immigrants.
If single Bahamian men cannot pass on their citizenship as well, it is not a reversal of the referendum. At least it is not a full reversal. However, this is still good news. It made no sense to me that the children of illegal immigrants had more of a claim to Bahamian citizenship than the children of some Bahamians.
People can justify this foolishness all they want. It was still very obscene for a 13 or 14 year old girl to be dressed in a skin tight dress and dancing like a stripper. In fact people assumed the first girl was a teacher. Now is the time for these children to learn respect for certain institutions, like their own schools. If they carry on like that in school, at this age, I shudder to think what they would do in a few years at workplace functions.
So people are supposed to believe that this stern talking to from Pindling's daughter will set them on the right path? A truly humble response from any of these decades old politicians would be to resign from politics.
You are confusing the constitution with the slackness that has been accepted over the years. Constitutionally, the only way he could have acquired citizenship is through his father who was deceased at the time of the affidavit. I also believe that submitting an affidavit at least required support from a pillar of the community type and not someone designated as a friend. As is, the document appears to be incomplete at the very least, and no amount of self righteous indignation can change that.
First things first, is to appreciate the fact that all Frankies and Susans may not have been born in The Bahamas, and hence, have no claim to citizenship. We condemn fraud and corruption, but we want to dismiss compelling evidence of such because we like so and so? That is corruption all over again. Granting passports based on the mother's statement and that of a friend is not in accordance with the law, as neither parents claim to citizenship was substantiated. I am not saying that is what occurred in this situation as Campbell's mother may have presented supporting documents that are not being included with those being circulated on social media. But if so, I am sure the minister in charge stands ready to use the discretion of the minister clause to sign off on citizenship for his colleague as he has already done in the case of the box of work permits, the regularization of students of illegal parents, and soon, the many boxes of citizenship applications that will line his office floor come December 31st.
LOL. This man seems not to know the definition of humanity beyond his self serving goals. You all have messed up the definition of xenophobic, but to bungle courageous is a new low.
