My friends it is imperative that we implement these measures immediately to stem the spread of this virus. The virus is not giving us notice that it intends to spread, and to kill. Now is not the time to allow politics to cloud our thinking. Of course Minnis is doing his level best to arrest this situation so that fewer lives may be lost and many more Bahamians, despite their political stripes, will have a brighter future.
This man is really bad news for the Bahamas. In all of his public utterings, there is definitely a tone of disrespect for Bahamians. In the same way that he doesn't feel that Bahamians should not receive a "livable wage", he also doesn't think that we can afford to rid ourselves of expats on Work Permits. Every single time he opens his moth, he is anti-Bahamian.
It seem as though this letter writer is still in denial as to the racist UBP policies that permeated our Bahama land prior to 1967. While we Bahamians have forgiven the Conchy Joes for their misdeeds, we have not forgotten.
I remember Godfrey Kelly from back in the days when he was the junior member for Cat Island, along with Harold Christie. I clearly remember an occasion when, as a curious youth, his the young son, Ian, proceeded to discreetly show me a briefcase loaded with cash (It was pounds and shillings then) that was intended to be distributed to voters. I remember my grandmother took his crisp five pound note, but voted for Culmer and Johnson of the PLP anyway. While I respect Mr. Kelly's business acumen and accomplishments, I could never shake that scene from memory. Over the years, I have often wondered if he ever came to respect Cat Island voters as equal citizens of this great country or as mere underprivileged constituents who could always be purchased for a few shillings.
