Peter , you have lost your mind.

Chucky says...

That is the fools argument.

The overtime and many other current bills must be paid!

If the money is there, then you can have your sidewalks.....!

Overtime is for working late, extra hours etc etc, payment of such is not optional, it's not "just extra money" to the recipients that they don't have to be paid.

Your mindless argument could be extended to say that anyone making more than minimum wage is making extra, that could instead be re distributed to those who are not working. That's a dangerous argument.

People who do better financially have usually invested more in themselves , higher education, work longer hours etc etc etc
Those who are not working, are usually the ones who don't try, have nothing invested. The first to be laid off is always the least worthy employee and not coincidentally they are also the last to be hired.
Why would anyone support wealth re distribution to people like this.
Let darwin take care of them!

Chucky says...

If your staff works overtime you must pay them ! Nurses or whatever their profession!

If you don’t pay them, you are a piece of garbage and deserve whatever consequences come your way.

Hard to imagine asking for special consideration, that travellers returning to USA from the Bahamas should not have to quarantine, yet also extending the emergency powers till may and keeping curfew in place.

Either we’re in so bad a shape that we need curfew and lockdown to save ourselves , or everything is fine for tourism as usual.

It can’t be both.

Clearly we need hierarchy’s in society. Lest your arguing that choosing to be a housekeeper is as important as choosing to be a doctor

One you can train for in 15 minutes and jump in and out of the field as you want. The other you study and train for a decade. Must continue to study and be committed your whole career and be responsible for your actions/ treatment of patients.

Housekeeping , lawn mowing, sweeping shoveling etc are all occupations which anyone can do, and the market is flooded with potentially qualified people. Of course their is no grand pay rate, nor command of respect.

Lack of drive, ambition, effort, education, marketable skill etc is what makes someone become a housekeeper or supplier of labour in general.

Why on earth should partaking in a job that requires no effort to obtain command any respect?

Why on earth would it command high remuneration.

Pure lunacy to argue otherwise.

Without hierarchy, and if all are deemed worthy of respect and high pay; how on earth could we ever expect another soul to become a doctor lawyer or candlestick maker, when they can simply be lazy and useless and just show up for a labourers job for the same pay, the only qualification is you must be able to fog up a spoon.

Society rewards those who do something with their lives. The rest of the people, well they reap what they sow, and they get what they deserve. And that my friends is how it should be.

But not all forms of discrimination is immoral. For instance, no sane Bahamian parent would entrust their underaged children in the care of known paedophiles. That, my friend, is discrimination.

#kevin evans

Only a complete idiot would give that example. Clearly Kevin Evans does not understand the action of discrimination.

Would it be so hard to open a dictionary?

Kevin Evans you should stick to facts; as you carry on Beyoncé fact with your foolish ignorant comments you loose all credibility and make our people look stupid.

Davis knew, Christie knew, Ingram knew, Minnis knew! We all knew what Nyguard was doing.

In fact, the knowledge was so widespread, and was known for so long, that it was actually a thing! If you went to a Nyguard party, well it was known that you should not talk about it, not in general conversation, it was something you’d do and only talk about quietly.

There are no surprises in the allegation.

Nyguard offered pampering parties for young women for free. Makeup ,manicures, etc , all free. This was the scouting mission.

The chosen ones would be invited back to his real parties.

Everyone knew this.

Anyone who has been to a Nyguard party , has seen him in action. Has seen scantly clad, or partially naked, or even fully naked girls in the various hot tubs. The girls so high on something they look spaced out. Nyguard with his arms draped over them, two at a time.

Everyone knew.

The tribune, they know. To this day the tribune limits comments on all stories directly related to Nyguards escapades. The press protect the rich criminals. Perhaps because they fear lawsuits. Or perhaps for other reasons. The owners of the media, well the shareholders are members of elite society, maybe the press tries to keep this quiet lest one of their own gets exposed as being involved.

Anyhow, anyone who is now talking of outrage, or show disgust is simply reacting due to the truth being exposed.

None of the population was crying foul all the while this was happening.

Everyone could have said or done something years and years ago.

But in true Bahamian fashion, a blind eye was turned.

The current “outrage “ is a sham. Fake ! All because this is now in the media !

Well we should be glad of the fact that at least it’s a foreign company drilling. While there is great risk, it pales n comparison to the risk of a oil drill with our bumbling baffoons in charge.

I remember Carl’s words very clearly when we had dinner with a mutual friend a few years back.

I’ll sum it up to the best of my opinion:
“ those that don’t fight for an education don’t deserve a good life”

Well that’s how he feels about the majority of Bahamians.
