Maybe you have some great ideas for high-paying jobs for rural South Eleuthera. Maybe aerospace engineering, or high-speed injection molding, or cloud-data storage? The folks there would love to hear them! So would we!
Unfortunate coincidence that this story runs under a story where Mr. Trump and Dr. Minnis argue that reports of crime are “old and overblown.” And this one occurred at an event that is advertised as a tourist attraction.
For decades, when it was on the market, the government did not bother to buy Lighthouse Point and turn it into a national park. Disney bought it instead ... and now they’re giving the government 190 acres of it, free, that’s worth $6.2 million, for a national park. And you’re blaming Disney? Typical thinking ...
I am frequently critical of the reporting here, but not this time. It may have taken a week but finally we have a clear story on how this scam worked. Thank you, Mr. Hartnell. More of this sort of explanatory/investigative work would be welcome. Good job.
Has anybody at The Tribune noticed that two of their reporters have written substantially the same story and posted it here? Both interviewing the same people? Hello? Hello? Anybody home over there?
“Pastor Victor” does not seem to understand that in the Out Islands everybody’s electric bills are high. He seems to believe that being a “prominent businessman” entitles one to pay less for electricity than the rest of us. “Pastor Victor” should spend more time re-reading his Bible.
Complete and utter BS. People who own multimillion-dollar fast-food franchises tend to be pretty savvy or they wouldn’t be successful businessmen to begin with. You assume something’s legal because of its cost? Uh ... machine guns are expensive, too — that doesn’t make them legal.
Well said. Investigative reporter? Uh ... I don’t think so. The Tribune specializes in reprinting, verbatim, press releases from the powers that be, and copying stuff they find on social media with their iPhones. I can’t remember the last time one of their reporters asked a difficult question of anybody in a position of power. #Lackeys
Neil Hartnell falls all over every minor court filing as if he’d just unearthed the Pentagon Papers, and then drones on for 5,000 words about it. His editor should carry a chainsaw.
