But haven’t you heard, Tal? Sistah Glenys and her pals aren’t too fond of people who actually have money. They loves to tax expats, but they not too excited about welcomin’ them into the fold. Their view is, “Just give us yo’ money, shut up and don’t expect nothin’ for it.” SMH

Clamshell says...

Absolutely. Why encourage people to invest here? Why encourage people with money to move here? After all, we can’t solve other citizenship questions, so why should we create new ones? Yes! Let’s tell people with money to invest to go invest it some other place ‘cause we already has administrative problems we can’t solve ‘cause ev’body too busy orderin’ lunch! Bahamas for (burp!) Bahamians!

Why not an actual news story, instead of a long string of self-serving quotes? The story does not even detail the alleged misbehaviour. Does anybody actually work at this newspaper, or do ya just publish whatever “official statement” lands on the doorstep?

Clamshell says...

Has this newspaper EVER considered interviewing people on BOTH sides of an issue, rather than let one person gas on and on, interminably? And perhaps condense and summarize the endless, gasbag statements? What ever happened to professional editors? SMH.

Let me see if I understand this: Employees of a regional airline that had quit flying and was out of business continued to show up for work, when there was no work to be done, and now wonder why they haven’t been paid? I mean, I sympathize with anybody who’s lost their job, but at some point ya have to realize: I don’t have a job, and nobody’s gonna pay me for it.

Once upon a time, Nassau attracted the sort of tourists who would shop for fine linens, watches, jewelry, etc. Then we sold out to the cruise ships, whose cheapskate tourists barely buy a bag of potato chips. You reap what you sow.

Yes, New York Times reports the tests included a wide range of ages, ethnicities, gender, etc.

I can swim, yes, but I avoid cruise ship tourons, even if it means giving up a chance to bite them or poop on them.
