... and, right now, the leaders of the Bahamas Marina Association are mounting a major public relations campaign to lure MORE yachts from Florida. Shameless hucksters who only care about their cash registers.
Please explain: How is somebody from Florida arriving by yacht at a marina on Harbour Island less of a threat than somebody arriving at ELH from Florida in an airplane? I’m all ears.
They shut down the commercial U.S. flights but allow yachts in — so now the marina owners are all over social media begging the Florida party-boat crowds to head over to New Providence and Harbour Island.
Just how are 6-8 people living crowded together on a Florida party-boat less likely to bring Covid than somebody arriving by jetliner? SMH at the greedy bastids.
Neither Mr. Maury nor Mr. Hartnell seems interested in explaining how 6-8 people living cooped up together on a 40-foot party boat, departing from Covid-infested Florida, are less likely to bring Covid-19 to Bay Street or Harbour Island than a person arriving by jetliner.
These marina operators who are begging the Florida party-yacht crowd to come by the thousands for a visit are wallowing in a sewer of greed. Any deaths that follow are on their shoulders ... and the shoulders of those in this newspaper’s pages who are trumpeting their message.
Meanwhile ... the manager of the Romora Bay Resort and Marina on Harbour Island is flooding the newspapers, social media and stateside yachting PR mill with cheerleader shouts for boaters from south Florida — one of the nastiest Covid-19 petri dishes on the planet — to fire up their engines and head on over to his marina, and pack his dock, pool, bar and restaurant. Gotta get that cash register singin’! Cha-ching!
