Whether it is the government or the man in the street, the idea that one must repay borrowed money remains a mystery to most Bahamians.

Translation: Let’s borrow half a billion dollars so we can continue to not keep the lights on.

A guy named Sands says we can make a fortune exporting sand. 🤣🤣🤣

Meanwhile, fed-up tourists will migrate to T&C, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

Uh ... anybody else notice that the story above this one details how the tourist health visa “portal” is in total meltdown? So let’s add 40 more?

Our buddy Neil wrote both stories, and apparently he didn’t notice the irony, either. 😎

The minister seems to be saying that the problem is caused by tourists who are using a system that the tourists are required by the government to use to enter the Bahamas.

This is like saying the roads wear out because people keep driving on them.

Oh, well ... just a little “tweaking” should fix it. Uh-huh. Yes. A little “tweaking.”

Neil could have written a story about the resort sale without licking the realtor’s boots. Neil gets a lot of free lunches that way.

The government’s wholesale abandonment of the Out Islands is scandalous. And they refuse to answer any legitimate press inquiry?

Nassau sucks up all the taxes and Customs revenue from the Out Islands and refuses to live up to basic obligations to keep the lights on and the taps running. How long will tourists tolerate having no running water and long, frequent power outages?

I guess the only thing that matters is keeping the cruise lines happy.

It’s “nor any drop to drink” ... but, good point.

A forward-thinking government would have arranged months ago to *buy* vaccines for its citizens; instead, this government followed a common Bahamian mindset and relied on freebie welfare handouts, while blowing its money on baubles and beads. And, so, here we are ...

The government reminds me of a phenomenon we see so often on this news site: Some person who claims to be down-and-out and desperate, and begging for help, while photographed with a $300 hairdo, $200 worth of makeup, $500 worth of jewelry and all the latest hip-hop duds. SMH.
