I know Tommy Sands, Mudda, he’s a good guy, smart and compassionate. To his credit, he’s not in the construction business, so he’s not trying to feather his own nest here. His major business is a grocery store, family also owns a hardware store and an insurance agency.
I’m sure he feels for the Abacos, etc., but he’s speaking here as Eleuthera’s Chamber of Commerce chief.
I think he is being overly optimistic. Many people will be unwilling to fly, unless they have to, until there is a vaccine. That likely will be more than a year. Cruise ships? Forget it.
Thanksgiving? I don’t think so. Next Easter? Well ... maybe.
Oh, please. Just yesterday Neil Hartnell published an article claiming that BPC’s drilling for oil in Bahamian waters was just the very best investment opportunity around, and that it could be the savior of the nation!
Good grief, Neil Hartnell, which is it? Some of us can read, and some of us can remember what we’ve read for way more than 24 hours.
Won’t happen. In an earlier article a gov’t higher-up admitted that the Bahamas did not have the money to buy oil futures when the prices tanked. We missed the bargain. Your BPL bill gonna stay where it is — high.
“James Cook @BBCJamesCook breaking With US oil prices in negative territory for the first time in history, and Brent Crude trading under $26 per barrel, industry body Oil and Gas UK has issued a dire warning about the sector’s future.”
Yeah, way to go, Neil — tell us again why this untested Bahamian oil exploration scheme is such a great investment.
Neil Hartnell should be run out of the business for publishing this absurd puff piece on the very day when oil futures, for the first time in history, plunged into negative territory. Shame on The Tribune. This story borders on criminal negligence!
