I remember going to the BTC office in Governor’s Harbour frequently to pay my bill, or beg on my knees for a repair, which would take a miracle.
There were always a dozen women in there doing the work of 3 people. There was one young lady I vividly remember, always dressed to the nines, beautiful hairdo and perfect nails ... and every time I visited there she was playing solitaire on the computer terminal. Every. Single. Time.
You would routinely see the office women running about town in a BTC vehicle, doing their personal errands, their shopping, delivering veggies to the farm stand, picking up their mail-boat shipments at the dock, whatever.
No wonder the union wants to go back to “da good ol’ days.”
While our “leadership” are debating who can show up at a gravesite, and who may or may not be gay or a “black African monkey,” our power goes out for hours every day, the Out Islands can’t get drinking water, our taxes go higher and higher, our young people fail in the schools and can’t find jobs ... and ... and ...
... but let’s argue the important stuff, like who can visit a cemetery and who’s a homosexual “African monkey.”
Stop lying. The golf course down there fell to ruin many years ago. A new golf course is being built in the south, by a Bahamian developer from Nassau, Sir Franklyn Wilson. And, no, he’s not white.
I’m guessing you’ve not been anywhere near there in years, if ever, or you’d know all that.
There has never been anything stopping black people from visiting that area just like the white folks do. You don’t need a boat, you can drive there. And the folks running paid excursions by boat to that area are all black Bahamians who make a living that way. Liar.
OK, would Mr. Fred be willing to turn back the clock and take up goat herding over there in Nigeria or The Congo? As he’d be doing if his ancestors had been left to themselves?
