Even if you are strong supporters of the police, it is difficult to defend firing blindly through a door into a house full of children. There are smarter, more professional ways to do this.

It would help if The Tribune quit treating suicides like a news event. Unless the person takes their own life in a dramatic way in a public setting, it is a *private* matter. Why embarrass the family who are already dealing with this tragedy?
In civilized countries, the news media *do not* report suicides like news events, unless, as stated, the suicide occurs in some public venue and cannot be ignored.
Business leaders love Neil Hartnell: He will write down whatever they tell him and not seek any balancing perspective. Hence, this story “explaining” to us that Cable Bahamas’ staggering losses and precarious financial position is really good news.
I once made the mistake of subscribing to a magazine to be delivered in the Bahamas. It would arrive with pages torn out — coupons or recipes, I suppose — and all wrinkled, like it had already been read. Then it quit arriving altogether. Also, we’d receive Christmas cards from the States the following May or June.
At that point I went to doing all my bills online. I did not go to the post office for +10 years afterward.
Respectfully ... I don’t think the kinda guys who would open fire on a group of people standing by the side of the street are exactly college material. I really doubt that their savagery stems from a lack of opportunity for a college education.
