Yes, makes perfect sense ... why lend money to a successful businessman when instead you can lend it to a bunch of political cronies who have no intent of ever paying you back? Yes ... that makes perfect sense.
Sorry ... *every* shot fired by a U.S. cop is investigated. I know this from experience. Some are ruled justifiable, some not. But nowhere does a chief of police throw up his hands and say, “There’s nothing I can do.” And that’s what happened here.
My gawd ... the commissioner of police just declared that he has no power to oversee the actions of his officers. OK, if that’s true ... just exactly what IS his job?
In the U.S., any officer involved in a shooting, no matter the circumstances, is *immediately* taken off the streets, placed on paid leave or administrative duty until the circumstances are investigated and resolved. If the officer is found to have shot a person illegally, he/she is dismissed and faces potential criminal or civil action.
But here? ... well, of course, nobody is EVER responsible for anything.
Apparently the people killed in the crash, which occurred 10 months ago, did not have names. The Tribune’s inability to report simple facts, or ask basic questions, never ceases to amaze.
This is a sad, sad commentary, but unfortunately it’s true. Why would any educated, capable, talented person subject themselves to “the system” in the Bahamas? I wish I could see some likelihood that the mindset in the islands will change, but I just don’t.
“ ... when the hospital’s two functioning autoclave machines temporarily ceased to function ...”
Gotta love the Tribune ... if the “functioning” autoclaves failed to function, they are not functioning autoclaves. LMAO, who edits this wreck of a newspaper?
