Ha! That's a good one, Thisisours! I almost choked on my breakfast after that one!! But seriously.... PGC is a horrible a leader as they come..... and the PLP is a corrupt a government as they come. But the problem is HAI has a greater affinity towards foreigners than he does the Bahamian people. How is it that a multi-million dollar road-works project can be conducted in our country, yet NO Bahamian hot-mix companies were contracted??? Plus... he and Dr Hubert Minnis threatened to have our nurses replaced with foreign, Cuban nurses during a work dispute. I'm no PGC fan... but at the same time I'll never forget the careless way in which Hubert Ingraham treated Bahamians. As a matter of fact... Hubert Ingraham is the sole reason that the PLP was voted back into power! But as Bahamians continue to realize; Perry Christie and the PLP isn't the answer either.
Humanitarian pause??? C'mon sheeprunner. This so called "humanitarian pause" established a consensus amongst Haitian nationals that the rewards for entering the Bahamas illegally are well worth the risk. We need a strong deterrent of unprecedented proportions to combat this illegal immigration problem.... not practices and policies that encourage it. Truth be told; PLP nor FNM has shown the "balls" it's going to take to eradicate this problem!
And then to make matters worst; in an attempted to solicit Haitian votes, Hubert Ingraham engaged in a "grand-standing" performance with the Haitian Prime Minister during a 2012 FNM rally!! He thought by appealing to the Haitian populace he could sway more votes in favor of the FNM. But because he was so out of touch with the people, he was utterly shocked when Bahamians stood-up in staunch defiance towards he and his policies! Perry Christie may be a lousy Prime Minister and leader.... but Hubert Ingraham made it abundantly clear that he couldn't care-less about the plight of Bahamian people. Don't forget that.
These shanty towns existed when the FNM was in power too! As a matter of fact, Hubert Ingraham precipitated this "shanty town problem" when he suspended the Haitian deportation process in the wake of the Haitian earthquake. Rather than confine them to the Detention Center for processing, he released them amongst the general Bahamian population!! So why aren't we criticizing him???
Fred Mitchell.... we understand that as the Minister of Foreign Affairs it is incumbent upon you to address this issue. But do you really think that the United States takes the Bahamas seriously??? In case you haven't realized, the Bahamas government has a poor global rapport. Especially given the corrupt, incompetent, illegal practices of our current government??? So please stop being silly.....just stop the nonsense please. The US knows all about your dirty little secrets! As a matter of fact... the entire reason that the United States began spying on the Bahamas is because your PLP government embraced the drug culture in the 1980s under Lynden Pindling and the PLP!! And whenever a country's government is engaged in the practice of drug trafficking, then that country's credibility amongst respectable nations is destroyed. Therefore, the US does not respect the Bahamas; the US will continue spying on the Bahamas, and the US will not give any answers to the Bahamas. And there's nothing you can do about it.
@Publius. Brandville has no proof because no one, including those responsible, have been forthcoming with any truth!!!! That's the entire problem!!!! The only persons who've mention anything remotely close to this issue has been Leslie Miller and PBD!!! And even both of them failed to address the heart of the matter as it relates to Mr Wells!! As Brandville has stated, PCG complete silence on this matter has left the door open for much conjecture and speculation!!! It's easy to commit an infraction; refuse to give any information regarding the infraction; and then tell oppositional parties that their claims regarding the infraction has no proof or validity!!!! The reason that Brandville McCartney and the Bahamian public have no proof as to what really transpired, is because PGC as usual, refuses to be forthcoming with any truthful information on the matter!!!! This is classic PLP bull-shit!!! And then to make matters even worst, he's attempting to insult the intelligence of sensible Bahamians by telling us the he's launching an investigation into the matter!!! Spare us the hogwash please!!! The truth is.... all Perry Christie is doing is attempting to buy time, hoping that eventually the Bahamian people will forget about the issue and allow him and his government to continue with more of their incompetent, unaccountable, bungling governance!!!!
Blah blah blah blah blah blah. The Bahamas is one big joke. The Tribune Newspaper should be sold on the comic-book shelf, right next to all the other humor magazines such-as Cracked and MAD Magazine.
