Agreed. Once again... playing the blame game.

Cobalt says...

What can they do? The US has been spying on everyone since the Cold War.

Cobalt says...

Agreed. However, both the fnm AND the plp are responsible for the nation's financial straits. Both have done nonsense. And don't forget about the Bahamian public. We're also to blame for the state of our nation.

Listen.... the U.S. has sophisticated weaponry, and technology that can by pass any security system in the world. How do you think that they've been able to dominated the most powerful of countries??? They use this technology to infiltrate the most advance of civilization. It would only take about two scientist from NASA to produce a system capable of spying on the entire Western Hemisphere! They don't need approval from BTC or anyone else! Once the CIA gives the go-ahead, then they act. Seizing control of a county's telecommunications network is an easy task for their scientific engineers. They've perfected this skill a long time ago. People in the Bahamas better wake up. I'm not saying that the FNM didn't give them permission; but I am saying that they would be spying on us whether permission was granted or not. The U.S. has been spying on us ever since Sir Lynden Pindling and his PLP allowed Joe Leadher to operate a cocaine hub in Normans Cay Exuma. Wake up people!!

Something like what??? Threaten the U.S.??? They've got cutting edge technology for crying out loud. We don't have the technology to contend with the United States. We're "small fish" on the global scale. The only thing the Bahamas can do in this matter is complain. Maybe if the Bahamas produced physicists, chemist, and mathematical engineers, we would be able to engineer our own technology to protect ourselves. But the last time I checked, engineering took "brains and smarts." And unfortunately for the Bahamas, the national GPA for the past three decades has been an F. Which means that we're pretty much a nation of "dummies."The undeniable, unavoidable truth is... It's time for the Bahamas to reap the seeds that it has sown!

Foreign developers alway come to the Bahamas under the guise of sparking the economy. But as we all know, NONE of these so called benefits ever trickles down to the common citizen. Foreign companies bribe our politicians, make their money, and then leave. The only foreign contract that was worthwhile and benefited Bahamians, was Sun International's Atlantis Resort.

Cobalt says...

Who??? Perry Christie??? Fire one of his idiot MP's??? Perry is just as stupid as Fred Mitchell! He's the one who placed him there!

Cobalt says...

I agree. Just another bunch of sycophants. Yes men, and yes women.

Cobalt says...

Yeah.... anti American was a strong term to use. But Fred Mitchell does seem opposed to certain American policies such as transparency and accountability. Like sheeprunner12 stated, he is highly allergic to common sense. Anywhere he encounters common sense and logic he need a dose of Benadryl or some other antihistamine to fight the effects. Fred Mitchell is a vintage idiot. And don't forget... PM Hubert Ingraham made Brent Symonette resign that contract because it was a huge conflict of interest. I doubt that Perry Christie would have shown such leadership. After all, he was about to allow Leslie Miller to rent a space to Betelco!

Interesting words, Hogfish. You make a lot of valid claims. But while the FNM does deserve some credit for establishing infrastructure, they also deserve a certain level of criticism for the careless way in which they disregarded the immediate concerns of the people. Furthermore, no matter the disagreement, job opportunities should always go to your fellow countryman rather than a foreigner (especially during a financial recession). Many small businesses suffered due to the road works while Hubert Ingrham and Tommy Turnquest appeared apathetic to their plight. The FNM is the entire reason why the PLP was voted back into power. They were just down right offensive.
