Everything and everywhere (including quality of life) is beautiful when you have money, Mr. Hill.
It's nice that you have the financial flexibility to enjoy the luxury and perks that our islands have to offer. However, your assessment of the Bahamas is subjective and not grounded in reality.
Every time that I read the Tribune, I can only laugh at the masses of stupid Bahamians who are now reaping the rotten fruits of seeds sown.
Perry Christie and his PLP degenerates tricked the Bahamian public into actually believing that he had their best interest at heart. "A Bahamas, for Bahamians," was his campaign promise. And now..... Bahamians are once again second class citizens in their own country.
Serves y'all right, Bahamians!! Too many of y'all are too damn stupid!!! Yinna gettin just what ya vote for!
What an embarrassing state of affairs the Bahamas is! This is a black-eye for our nation! And while our number one industry goes to the dogs, Perry Christies number one way of dealing with our problems is to simply ignore them and pretend as though they do not exist.
I used to think the same thing, but that's not true.
Don't get me wrong.... the FNM has made some bad choices as it relates to our country. But they've also conducted major projects that have benefitted the Bahamian people. The FNM brought in Atlantis; the FNM dredged the harbor so that major cruise liners can dock in nassau; the FNM conducted a facelift downtown many years ago; the FNM built new roads; the FNM renovated the airport; they initiated the building of the national stadium; the FNM put electricity on many of the out islands the previously didn't have it; the FNM has conducted many infatructural projects within the Bahamas. I bet my bottom dollar that if the FNM were in power, Bahamar would have been fully operational. HAI isn't a personable character. But the man knows how to conduct business.
What major projects can the PLP hang their hats on and say that they've completed???? Not a damn one!
The FNM's problem was that they neglected the immediate concerns of the people. When the economy took a down turn, Hubert Ingraham seemed careless about the plight of the Bahamian people. In spite of this, the real reason that the Bahamian public voted the FNM out of office was because HAI sold BTC.
But the truth is.... BTC needed to be sold. They were the most expensive telecommunications company in the western world, yet they offered the worst service. And ironically, nothing has changed.
The FNM was not and is not the ideal government. But they're sure as hell better than the PLP.
I hope Bahamians are realizing how stupid they've been for voting the PLP into office.
I thought that the FNM was bad, but this Christie led government has defiantly taken the cake. What a colossal failure they are. Three and a half years of failed promises, and nothing that they've put their hands to has materialized. Everything that they touch goes to shit.
I respect the above mentioned posts. But the truth is..... the problems far out weigh the benefits as it relates to the legalization of marijuana.
From a medical perspective...... all cannabinoids are considered drugs. And drug distribution must be heavily regulated and controlled. Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is not a harmless drug. Any drug that has the ability to alter your perception, inhibit your judgement, dull your senses and decrease your level of consciousness, needs to be taken seriously.
And while marijuana may have medicinal applications....... it would only serve as a distructive component within the Bahamian public domain if it were legalized.
Alcohol (ethanol) has medical properties too. But it does more damage than good.
The United States of America also needs to shoulder a large portion of the blame when it comes to the trafficking of illegal firearms into the Bahamas.
They've invaded many countries in South America for the manufacturing and distribution of narcotics to the U.S. But yet they fail to acknowledge that they are manufacturing and distributing illegal weapons to their southern neighbors as well.
How would they feel if another super power invaded their shores because too many weapons and illegal firearms were being shipped out of their country?
Not only the police.... but government cronies, members of parliament, judges, cabinet ministers, lawyers, and those holding power within national security.
There's a huge gun smuggling and human trafficking ring going on in the Bahamas. And the ones who are charged with the responsibility of stopping it, are the ones who are engaged in it. The average Bahamian is completely in the dark as to what's going on in this country.
The United States has recently classed the Bahamas government among the most corrupted countries in the west, next to Mexico and Colombia. International diplomacy is currently preventing them from indicting many of them for questioning in drug related cases. My cousin works for the department of corrections in the U.S. She said that a certain drug dealer who was extradited years ago has sung like a bird to the DEA. He implicated many of them in his dealings related to bribery and payoffs.
What other country do you know of in the Western Hemisphere where the Deputy Prime Minister is in danger of being arrested if he enters the North American boarder??
The police caught a big-wig, PLP crony smuggling guns and ammunition into the country via automobiles from the U.S.
The guilty party was never charged because Jerome Fitzgerald, who was then acting as the Attorny General, got the charges nullified.
The shocking truth is...... government officials and those who hold power in this country are the ones who are operating and trafficking illegal firearms into the Bahamas. Because of the geographical construct of the Bahamas and the fact that we're surrounded by miles of ocean, our boarders are wide open to smuggling. This makes our boarders extremely hard, almost impossible, to police.
Big-wigs, white collar criminals, and government officials (some within national security) are exploiting this fact and getting rich off of it. I guarantee you.... if you knew the truth about what's really going on in this little Bahamas, you wouldn't sleep very good at night. It'll turn every strand of hair on your head, gray. Trust me.
