Please name one island nation that has drowned because of sea level rise/global warming. Be prepared for double electricity bills when we switch away from fossil fuels. And where are we going to bury all that concrete when the wind turbines get de-commissioned after 10 or 12 years of service? What to do with the 1000s of solar panels when they die?
1. Many of BPC's shareholders are Bahamian 2. fossil fuels are the only economical and environmental choice 3. No significant sea level rise has been observed 4. Stop smoking is a good idea 5. Please skip repeating the climate warming/change scam 6. Please ask the people of Trinidad, Guyana, Jamaica, Cuba and Mexico if oil exploration is really such a bad idea. 7 relax
Please do not bring the sham of "climate change" into this. The continued existence of Bahamas is not threatened by drilling a 6" hole. No problem with the six holes that have already been drilled. Bahamas is very much threatened by the destruction of tourism, in no small part due to this incessant fear-mongering.
Dear Porcupine, where did you get the outrageous comment " nearly all scientists in the world... advising us to quit burning fossil fuels"? FYI no nation in the world can exist for long, without access to cheap energy ( fossil fuels) to support their current standards of living.
What are the "international obligations" stopping hydrocarbon exploration? A large part of Cuba's oil production + refining is in close proximity to Veradero, a major tourist area. .No problem. No hysteria!.
Bahamas credit rating has dropped to junk status.Expect the Bahamian dollar to be seriously devalued. Government really needs to know if there are any commercial deposits of hydrocarbons in this country
