Hold on -- we $10 billon in debt but we don't have one carrier that could be used to repatriate illegal immigrants and/or evacuate folks off of islands prior to or after hurricanes?

Can we fix up the partially submerged boat off of Flamingo Cay???

The issue is we do not have the means to give urgent and quality care to the high number of people falling ill. That is why prevention (vaccination, mask wearing, social distancing) is so important. We do not have the capacity to provide cure to hundreds, much less thousands of people at the same time.

On Surely we can do better than this

It is an injection, not a Mark. BCG vaccine left more of a "mark" than COVID vaccines do.
And if you bring up vaccination cards as the MARK, credit cards and cell phones have been around much longer.

If UB were private, they could do what they want. But as a public university, they should not have the authority to fire based on vaccination status (as much as I am a proponent of vaccinations). Wear a mask, temp checks, test once a week, strongly encourage -- but for a governmental organization to fire based on vaccination status is dictatorial and antithetical to our democracy.

These plans sound great. If only the FNM had the ability to enact these initiatives now...

Agreed. Childhood hunger and childhood obesity are not new concerns for the country. They want 5 more years to start something they dun had 4 years to start??

Why wait until (if) reelected? You the government NOW!! Start the programme next week,,,

This is false. Neither J&J, AstraZeneca (both viral vector vaccines) or Pfizer (mRNA vaccine) cause any viral shedding in the generation of antibodies. This only happens if the vaccine is a weakened version of the live virus itself.

Agree with ThisisOurs. Vaccinations are like seat belts. 1) they decrease the risk for serious injury/illness and death but they are not foolproof. 2) someone dying in a car crash while wearing a seat belt is not proof that seatbelts do not work 3) just because you have a seat belt does not mean you can drive recklessly -- drive safely regardless.

Vaccine shedding is the term used to describe the release or discharge of any of the vaccine components in or outside of the body. Vaccine shedding can only occur when a vaccine contains a weakened version of the virus. None of the vaccines authorized for use in the Bahamas (Pfizer, J&J or AstraZeneca) contain a live virus. mRNA and viral vector vaccines are the two types of currently authorized COVID-19 vaccines available.
