Miller is the only one who is trying to fix this whole situation. He is right. The employees are raping BEC and they do not deserve anything. Davis and Gibson and just trying to get votes for future projects. They do not care about the people. Instead of Philip "Brave" Davis it should be Philip "Woosey" Davis. Because that what he is. He is not BRAVE enough to stand up to the BEC Union
Here is the problem "***The hotel union’s position is that its members cannot afford to lose the 15 per cent gratuity currently levied on all hotel services, as it accounts for 98 per cent of the take-home pay enjoyed by many workers***".
So if a waiter has a weekly salary of $100 (which is about it) and that is 2% of his earnings (ie the tips are 98%) that means that he is getting $4,900 a week in Tips? $5,000 a week total earnings OR $260,000 per year.
This is the real problem. The Heads of the Hotel Union are all idiots! ! ! They can not negotiate anything because they do not know anything about the hotel industry.
Why do you need a VAT Controller when no one is going to pay the tax? Why will this tax be any different? The VAT Controller will have nothing to do except to cash his pay cheque.
***"He (Mr Gibson) said he subsequently sent National Insurance inspectors to Baha Mar to “look and see exactly how many persons they are paying contributions for.”***
What is this? Every month companies pay their National Insurance fees and the employee deductions. There is a list of every employee attached to the remittance.
Why can't they just look at the last National Insurance remittance form that they already have?
Woods is more concerned about the loss of the Union Dues than he is about the employees. His Union can't pay their bills. What is the dues $10 per week? So that's $1900 per week or $98,800 per year (plus VAT)
How can this be? The shareholders still have shares? The company went bankrupt? The Government should own all the shares. Then they should clean up the mess and re-issue new shares to get their investment back.
Wonder what collateral they have on the $107M? How many buildings have they repossessed? Usually on commercial loans you do not loan more than 80% of value . . . . ?

Just another example of the fact that no one pays their taxes, duties, loans, electric bills, etc.
The Government of the Bahamas does not need NEW taxes they just need to collect what is due to them.
But of course they won't do that will they? Because if they do the people in charge will have to finally pay their debts too! ! !
When will we see a list of the bad debts and who owes the money! ! !
