Of all the stupid, asinine, corrupt, self-serving decisions made by this administration, and its predecessor, this has to be one of the most egregious. Give The People the remains of their loved ones to lay to rest. This takes dictatorship to a whole new level.
The addicted gambler will spend until he is broke. The addicted alcoholic tends to have set habits. The numbers houses are open pretty much round the clock, including on-line. Workers can sneak off the job to spend their last dollar on the betting but cannot be falling down drunk on the job. Furthermore, a great number of liquor store patrons are social drinkers, unlike the vast majority of gamblers who have no self-control. The main point is that the betting shops have destroyed the economy. The liquor stores never did that, as far as I am aware!
The liquor business does not suck the economy dry like the maniacal webshops which will take the last nickel and dime from their customers who will have no dollars left for even one cold beer...
I have to wonder how long the medical safe card will last. Suppose you go through the hassle and expense of procuring a card and a reservation is unavailable, say for another week, what do you do then?? Why not preboarding testing or is this not possible? One would think DR MInnis would be up to speed on this?!?
Wonder whether Abaco is not on the reopen list due to its huge immigrant problem, many of whom are living 'on top' of one another in hurricane ravaged, garbage infested, apartment buildings and homes belonging to displaced locals, not bothered by Police, Defense Force or Bahamas Immigration.....If the virus were to take hold in one of these areas where social distancing is not practiced, God help the indigenous Abaconians and legal residents of the Island... ..
