It's funny that the tribune keeps removing my comments in relation to this issue.

The fees needed to increase. Time frame should match immigration rules, why they don't is farcicle to me. The fees went too high. There should be different rates for different lengths of time. A 2 week stay should not be the same as a year long. And the bad apples that ruined it for everyone are the ones making the most fuss. They been talking the seabeds and making grand profits or others smuggling in illegal guns are the problem and need to be addressed. The ones that come over every other month are smuggling plain and simple. I support the AIS requirement for all foreign vessels over 25 feet. Govt did screw up and raise the fees to high just like they did to the local boat owners a few years ago. Yet another example that Fillup is out of his depth and should not get relected

He just wants that sweet $250k a year pension for 2 term PMs like Fillup

This whole thing expertly reveals to the world how little understanding the fine folks at DIR and the Bahamas Govt understand how things work outside of their cushy AC office off Carmichael. It clearly exemplifies their utter confusion and is massively ironic that the DIR and the Bah.gov and Ryan Pinder (whose family are in the real estate business) do not know that over 70% of the real estate transactions in the Bahamas do not involve a real estate agent. Therefore only the 30% of sales that do have a real estate brokerage involved would be affected or 'captured' by the ridiculous reporting requirements being called for. Can we call for smarter people to be running the countries tax system please? or call me sometime and I can explain it for you.

cart before the fn horse as usual. Fillup can't get kicked out fast enough. lets penalize those evil real estate agents but let all the shady lawyers get away with murder daily. what a crock

Meanwhile the govt does all mind of foolishness while distracting yoall with this so called Robin hood crusade. Since when does a business need to display the law? Can we ask inland revenue to display their laws too? I always have so many questions and no where to find answers. Like apparently in the past a restaurant license allowed sales of beer and wine. Then at some point point unbeknownst to everyone this was changed and people getting $100k fines but the govt not DIR ever bothered to inform the taxpayers. Some ivory tower gestapo crap going on in this country big time.

Lots of hot air and fullup jokes here. So who gets to decide who is the solitary lucky liquor store owner and who loses out big time when their business license gets yanked. so much for free market enterprise and a free open economy. This is just nanny state and crappy business people who can't take the heat of competition. if you take out the liquor stores does he really believe that the corridor will magically sprout wholesome family clothing stores and wellness centres HA! if the innercity could afford a weekly massage and pedicure i'm sure they would but all they can scratch out is couple bucks for stichy. someone may want to go back to highschool economics class and start over. Furthermore some of the most famous tourist destinations in the world have a row of eating and drinking and entertainment establishments in one place - like covent garden, bourbon street, King St. in charleston, Paris, how about Via Lammbertesca Florence. shortsighted teatotalling bible thumpers do not understand anything about business.

DWW says...

yeah, sure invest in a company that is 100% doomed from the get go. an entity that has never paid its bills in full or on time? Fillup Jokes right here.

DWW says...

what a big joke. so once again Abaco, Nassau and the rest of the Bahamas tax payers are propping up another failed part of the failed free-port. time to call it quits and end the Port authority entirely. it is proven that it does not work and will never work. Did the grand lucayan work out well? did taxpayers really get value for money or did a select extremely lucky few get wealthy as bandits? Just Fillup the pockets while the rest suffer.
