not entirely true there. The US has teh cash to ensure their citizens get the first shot at the shot. they are opening up and getting past this very soon. UK study of OAZ is showing over 97% efficacy in real world data just now starting to come out.

I don't often agree with you but on this you are correct. The Arawak Port landing costs are high. It cut Nassau out of any family island trans-shipment business entirely. It is cheaper to pay higher frieght rates to have goods shipped direct to the islands and skip Nassau. Maybe a good thing, maybe not.

Ironically, if the Farm Road had not been harbouring and enabling the vast theft occurring on the island they might have been able to stay under the radar and no one would have been bothered. (building material, generators or tools missing? check farm road!) They have no one to blame but themselves for poor decisions in this instance.

This will never happen in this land of pirates and secrets. Too many involved (both gov't and private sector) stand to lose too much and gain immensely with the system remaining the way it is. The realtor commission is not a requirement. However the lawyers 2.5% fee is guaranteed whether they complete the transaction or not. The gov't tax is way too high, but that is a different topic. This status quo hurts the most vulnerable of Bahamian society in many ways. The low cost lot means a low fee which means the attorney does a quick 'once over' and leads to problems for the low income family's land title. The status quo allows the wealthy to hire large law firms and win while the small man cannot afford to defend his ownership claim and loses every time. Every 5 years there are more promises and more promises. Not a single MP has ever had the gumption to begin the process of change.
