I completely agree except for the education part. Rogers does not mention that Bahamain Culture shuns intellect in favour of gross machoism. until we change that, nothing will happen. The african in us favours brute strength over brains. history proves that the winners were smart not strong. So while the culture we live in distains intelligence the smart youts leave the country for places in the world where the mind is cool. Our politics are the same, we vote for the MAN who can dance the best meaning he has the best sexual prowess. Am i wrong?

how long do you think a decent proper shopping bag will last? 2 weeks? 2 years? 20 years? This has been common practice for decades in Europe and UK. Yes i said decades. And consider this, the lower cost to the business should mean lower costs on the goods so the low income consumer should break even. but then again the business owner may not adjust because they have extra stress from the likes of you. or they just looking to improve teh bottom line so they can hire more staff.
dude what are you smoking? one does not dredge of oil. it is called drilling... RE-useable bags is the answer not biodegradable ones. my family uses about 3 platic garbage bags a week and we have been using reusable shopping bags for years (unless i forget sometimes). this compared to the 10 double bagged (10x2=20 for those mathematically challenged) twice a week shopping that most families use. i have repeatedly over and over told the bag person to only use a single bag (again when i forget on occasion) and they look at me like i'm crazy. I have proven the point and put 9 hieneken bottles in 1 single bag, walk to the car across the parking lot then into my house and the bag did not break... we bahamian need to get with the program. many companies and sporting events have been giving away free bags for decades now. there is absolutely no reason why you should not have a stack of them. i got one insurance management bag, a royal star bag, i even got one milo bag and festival cleaner bag. just got a really nice reusable bag from Pinders Plumbing when I went to get get replacement filters. I mean come on, even the plumber is on board. go fly a kite Birdie, made with plastic shopping bags.
anytime govt holds back information or conducts activities behind closed doors, i always assume there is something nefarious at foot and usually it turns out true. if you cant conduct business in the light of day then you are involved i shady business... am i wrong?
Mr Hutton said that “by law any property deemed to be damaged more than 25 percent” cannot be rebuilt, and a new structure is required. I had not heard this before. is this accurate?
Why is information kept so close? I note she mentions flood zone maps - where are these and why can't the general public have access to it? Seems like a good idea for a young couple buying their first piece of land to build a home, or buying a home already built - should they not be allowed to see this map so they know if they are in a flood zone? getting information out of the gubmint is well... farcical at best. And maybe the archaic MoW might put out a dumbed down version of the code with say 20 or 50 bullet points so the average bahamian can know what to look for when the have hired a contractor. most don't know that 1 nail in the hurricane clip aint enough.
$350,000 biannually? that's a hefty bill. i wonder if teh savings will make into the consumer prices? sure would be nice of Mr. Roberts. somehow i kind of doubt it. I always wondered how much extra i was paying at the cashier as a result of the zealous use of packing acumen.
