r we in this place maybe to do with jokers like these long serving folks? just asking for a friend who was born in the bahamas but doesn't understand why its so messed up.
still waiting for a good argument why we should join. and i've read some of the website and listened to laing on teh guardian radio. Who gives a rats ass about FRance anyway?
$6,400,000 divided by $15,000 per residence in the impacted communities works out to 426 roofs repaired. I'd guess that would be pretty close to the number of structures that are a) owned by bahamians citizens and b) is in need of major work. Why not just purchase $6.4M worth of roofing supplies and distribute to the people. And why not you ask, well how is someone going to profit off of erecting 250 overpriced tents if you just give away free roofing materials instead? $15,000 is a ball park number to purchase materials for a basig but proper roof on a typical bahamian duplex struture. bahamians can always get their brother/cousin/uncel to come help put it on. Am I Wrong? I"m probably not thinking striaght. 100 days and counting and i still don't have any garbage collection at my house in Marsh Harbour. The streets are littered with junk, 1 out of 10 pieces of heavy machinery is moving around the dump. private heavy equipment operators are price gouging. Anyone in Nassau with Heavy Equipment want to send it up here to get put to work?
and in any respectable country the Permanent Secretary would hand over their resignation and heads would roll. but not here, its just business as usual. growing up here i was told "don't bother applying to this or that..." We need to stop trying to hold the elected folks to account, they are only there for 5 years, it the lifelong civil slimers that are the real problem.
yeah, i'm beginning to think this is just a slush fund. i tried to inquire with the SBDC and didn't get even a courtesy call response. No answer on the phone, no response to an email. nothing but crickets. But then you hear they giving out grants to a few lucky persons. its only 2.5 years away folks.
This time next year when the bare minimum has been spent on recovery in Abaco, the Bahamas government is going to realise that Abaco contributes 25% of the entire country's economy, yet only receives 7% back. And they are going to wonder what happened and why they ain't got no peoples cash to spend.
all them taxes collected and they still borrowing money. What TF happened to fiscal austerity and getting rid of the countries debt? Turnquest has slowly but surely lost all credibility. guess who ain't gonna win a seat in 2 years.
