is this anything to do with no bid crony contracts for lucrative govt contracts? no? oh of course not. Meanwhile is now a good time to talk about the millions of tax dollars held up since July last year because they can't get tax ID# from the useless department? Does anyone care?
Said it before and I say it again. get rid of the motivation and source of funding of the gangs through elimination of the black market drugs. if they don't have a market they don't have money and there won't be a reason to protect the turf... simple answers which have been proven in countries around the world. Portugal is a prime example and the murder rate dropped dramatically after they started treating it as a medical issue instead of a criminal one. We made the bed we sleep in and any amount of religious pontification will not change the status quo. But politicians like rhetoric not solutions.
DIR is holding up millions in govt tax revenue all waiting on the stupid tax ID number and the tax office questioning sales prices. if the legal conveyance says $X then that is the market value for all intents and purposes related to the tax office. overzealous public servants getting headpower trips and holding up countless commerce. The home builder can't start work because the buyers don't own it yet. the cleaners, the taxis the rental managers, shippers, grocers, painters, plumbers, electricians, hvac, none of them are getting income because we are all waiting on Inland Revenue to do their job and not hinder the private real estate sector.
you assume that all convictions are correct, true and accurate? What about the person who is wrongfully accused and or convicted? If we find you later and want to correct the egregious error but well.... death is not easily reversed. the last man hanged in UK was clearly mentally disabled and not fit for trial. many believe he was scapegoated by his 'friend' who was the one who really did the deed. if you assume that the human operated court and justice system in the Bahamas is completely incapable of making any mistakes then I am actually jealous of your easy world view.
has anyone really had a good look at all the ways NIB has lost money over the years? Like NIB owns the Abaco Gov't Complex and rents to Gov of Bah. Is that bill always paid or is it in arrears like I expect it to be? How about the other loans that NIB has made? are they all current or just sweetheart deals for cronies? Just asking the question as I don't know where to find the answer since we don't have FOIA and a real information ombudsman...
I could be wrong but I could almost guarantee you that was a spoiled brat 10 year old who probably provoked the otherwise peaceful nurse shark. any takers on betting odds that the brat decided to poke the eye or grab the tail of the shark? We can never properly engineer for stupid which is one of the reasons the Mars trip is doomed to failure unless everyone is put to sleep for the entire time.
I mean - borrowing vast amounts of money on behalf of the Bahamian people but the Bahamian people do not get to be informed of the borrowing that directly affects them. These puffed up civil servants need to be checked and reined in. Time to change the diapers and I don't necessarily mean the elected ones.
