meanwhile the internet service at my office is dismally slow. Cable had the entire market at one time, screwed it up with complacency and crappy service. now in typical fashion they blame the competition rather than the fact that their service sucks. are still denying that they used laws to cut out any competition 30 years ago and they still managed to screw it up? btw urca is complete a joke.
that court case was dead in the water before it started. no leg to stand on. you can't take a foreign govt to court in a different country. talk about wasting time and money. i bet the Bahamas govt didn't even respond to the summons.
let them "stay in Florida" or go to DR. give it 3 months and they will all be back. who wants to mess with Florida fish and wildlife checks daily or massive crowds and the famous "Florida man fisherman". and I don't even need to say anything about the DR they don't have any fish left....
i don't know man, some of the Abaco marinas are pretty busy right now. There is a group of 5 freeman cats cruising around and fishing like crazy. The cruising fees have not been increased in like 3 decades? stop pandering to the lowest common denominator and lets stick with the ones who will actually spend, not pretend to spend. Lets not sell the Bahamas short. It is hands down the #1 place for boating and cruising in the world. if they want to boycott, I say let em, they will be back in a few short months. And the loud ones are the ones doing illegal charters and smuggling fish back into the US as a nice profit. a 50 foot sportsfisher could haul 1,000 lbs of fish to Florida easily and make $25 per lb tax free??? Lets get real here and place a fair value on the ability to enjoy the most beautiful place on earth and lets cut down on the number of idiots anchoring in Exuma park and jetskiing up the creek despite requests not to. The increased fees will have economic benefit in terms of environmental impact being lessened slightly. These entitled americans think it is their right to cruise the Bahamas at will for $300 a year but they are not bahamian and must pay to play if they want to be in this beautiful little country. Everyone of these complainers own boats that are worth $300,000 or $3,000,000, they can afford it. The ones that don't simply charter a boat already in the Bahamas which is far more economical. or just duty the boat in and buy a home here to keep it then no more "expensive" cruising fee.
Greenpointe is looking pretty shaky footing at this point. if they were serious they would have completed the purchase by now. That said, if there was a proper land use plan and property zoning and density plans for the Bahamas then developers would not have the crazy uncertainty for investing in this backwater country. For instance, the hotel parcel should be designated as a hotel parcel and then a buyer can complete the purchase and then design the hotel. In the Backwards Bahamas a buyer has to submit complete construction plans before buying the property which adds costs and delays to everything and stagnates the country. backhaswards we is.
Um, meanwhile Abaco north eleuthera and exuma marinas are busy and could care less. Just saw a fleet of 6 freemans cruise by yesterday. Maybe just maybe the business model that spends $30,000 per week for a $40,000 charter week cost is just not sustainable? Maybe if you can't operate with taxes then you are not a real business? Do they pay 7% sales tax in florida plus income tax? How much is a dock slip in Florida again? Like the world's smallest violin playing somewhere?
