We have a fixed election date. It is May 22nd 2022 i believe. Now it can also be called early. If we pass a fixed election law there has to be a way to call an early election. In the UK it is 2/3 of Parliament must vote for it. So over here the FNM has more then 2/3s so they can call it whenever they want. What they need to do is sort out registration. Maybe pass a law that says once election called, people have a month to get registered, so you don't have these rumors going round.

Yup, these corporations are paying people to go in hospital in order to further their aims.

This is not true. There are 190,000 on the list, however many people would have moved and just not told. I know of plenty people in this position. They will need to let people know what happens if they do not change their address and then try and vote.

You can raise the age to 100, unless you prosecute nothing will change. I agree with Bobsyouruncle, education is the key

All you really have done is make sure more people won't pay real property tax going forward as there is no benefit to being honest. better to not pay and wait for an amnesty. Put the money you would have spent on real property and invest it, thereby having even more money. Another useless Government, just like the last one and no doubt the next one.

Question, does this mean that places which are mandated by the emergency law to test will now have to pay for the staff to be tested? Or is it just places that choose to say they need the test but are not mandated to have it?

Umm the letter writer does understand that the 15% is only on global businesses. So the local ones will not be affected. Though i do agree there is scope for an increase in taxes paid, but only if the money is used for better services of which Bahamas air is not one. IF as the letter writer said it is only needed for island hopping then it does not need to go to the US, Freeport, Abaco and many other islands where private airlines at no cost to the Bahamian people are already doing this. If our average interest payments are 5% (and they are probably higher), Bahamasir costs us $30 million in interest payments alone due to the losses it has made (I wonder if this is taken into account when their subvention is announced?).

I never understand why these unions have never thought of operating a business on their own. They make it sound so easy to make plenty money. Yes i am sure that the hotels can bring back more, however they are no doubt trying to pay off the losses they sustained during the worst of Covid, and could also be worried that the normal slow months happen, in which case they will not need all. Strange that the union is saying the want redundancy, but they don't want the emergency powers to end. It is my understanding that once the emergency powers end, companies will have no choice but to make a decision. Now on the idea of staff rotating so all get to work, if possible that would be great, however i don't know if that is possible.
