No one is flying as these stupid Covid Laws mean just travelling to Eleuthera from Nassau adds an extra $120 per person on. IF Government wanted to at least get Bahamians flying to family islands require a rapid test ($16). But no they want to keep us locked up on each island, whilst we watching the ultra wealthy travel as much as they want.
Because our Government doesn't think smart. They will look at a tax and say only 90% are complaint, and then instead of going after the 10% who aren't they will increase the rates and make doing business harder. After the new changes only 87% are compliant, but Government saw an increase in revenue so they are happy. This will keep happening until the revenue decrease and Government has no choice but to go after those non-compliant, but by then it will probably be too late.
You mean our citizens who want to travel to their country. By all means get rid of pre-clearance and then they would have to do it over in the US. But the only reason it is done is because that person wants to enter the US. You need to put your tin foil hat back on.
To get a mortgage most banks now require proof you have paid real property. So most people are those who just choose not to pay, and haven't paid long before Covid. This is an asinine idea and all it will do is make more people say there is no point in paying. Also it won't simulate house sales as there is no incentive to have a house sale. You need around 20% appreciation before you personally make a dollar (10% Stamp, Real estate fees 65, lawyers 2% etc). All this is is a desperate idea to make some money without caring about the repercussions as thats down the road.
And therein is the problem. Basically the law can be interpreted as some mysterious person sees fit and you will never be told why they decided a certain way. It would have been cheaper for this man to just pay some money under the table then try and do it the correct way. Basically the same for most peoples dealings with Government.
Then change the constitution so that it says what we do. My issue is if the law states that XYZ should occur then that is what should occur. If that is not enforceable then change the law to one that is. Don't have a law then choose not to follow it as that is a slippery slope.
The Constitution Chapter 2 on Citizenship part 10 states " Any woman who, after 9th July 1973, marries a person who is or becomes a citizen of The Bahamas shall be entitled, provided she is still so married, upon making application in such manner as may be prescribed and upon taking the oath of allegiance of such declaration as may be prescribed, to be registered as a citizen of The Bahamas: Provided that the right to be registered as a citizen of The Bahamas under this Article shall be subject to such exceptions or qualifications as may be prescribed in the interests of national security of public policy". Even the Immigration department says that a female is eligible if they are a spouse of a Bahamian Citizen. All you have done is shown that the immigration officers decided how to interpret the law as they see fit, not as the law is written. Which is wrong.
