Sounds good, and wash house owners should invest in web shops. Oh wait no they can't as there is a 10 year moratorium, bit of discrimination there but web shops don't seem to care.
Name them. Every single one who has not paid back unless they can show they are earning under a certain threshold, as some of them will no doubt be the same people we read about in the newspapers trying to show how they've made it to the big time. Name and shame then,
Agreed. i also think that is the plan in the long term as they need to do reductions on duty with WTO, they are just going to use the next year or two to get the extra income from VAT and Duty before reducing duty. They are hoping by then to have reduced the Governments expenditure and have a surplus on the budget so things can move forward. As i said they Hope so we shall see.
The privy council will not stop us from executing someone as long as that meets our list of what is the worst of the worse. Successive Governments have not said what this is so they are unable to execute. In reality our Governments (both parties) do not want the headaches of having an execution and find it easier to have the public blame the privy council, rather then the Government who is at fault.
If you have two items each priced $10 and one has VAT the other not the total sales price will be $21.20 (with 12% VAT). The seller will need to indicate which items are VATable usually with a T and which one's arent.
If you come to live in the Bahamas as a resident then follow our laws. If you want to live some where you can gamble go live there. It is not right to put the onus on Bahamians to decide if you are allowed to gamble or not. At the entrance to every casino is a sign saying residents are not allowed to, so don't .
Residents of lyford, old fort and Albany may or may not be Bahamian. However whatever they are they are not allowed to gamble in the casino, and i will agree with John that many do (though not sure on the racism part as to why they are able to, more due to many black Bahamian's do not think white people live here).
LOL have a go against the Government for discriminatory practices against the Webshops, then tell the Government to practice discriminatory fees against foreigners (who currently pay the same as Bahamian, not a free ride as he suggests). As to the having a sin tax, tobacco is currently charged 200%, so i agree, lets do the same to Webshops. Mcalpine seems to be the FNM's Rollins so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I do fully agree with Income tax, however i would suggest that they get NIB collected properly first before trying an Income tax, as NIB is basically an income tax and we all have heard stories of companies and people not paying that. And i also suggest that Government gets rid of all the duty exemptions and other incentives for Churches as they should follow the bible and Render unto Ceaser what is his.
