We are a lawless society. Yes there will be laws in place to stop this, but they are never enforced, unless the person crosses the powers that be. We will continue our merry decline until the collapse is too far and either total collapse or someone will come who has the countries best interest in mind.

Dawes says...

Of course the VAT change will benefit the country by making VAT easier, however it will hurt the poorest in this country a lot. I see Government and Mr. Bowe constantly say that all studies show it is better to have VAT on all, then exemptions. But conveniently have not said anything about having social services ready to go with this targeted aid these reports keep mentioning. IF the broad base is the way to go with targeted social spending. then have the targeted social spending ready to go from day one of the VAT changes, not in typical Government fashion of a couple of months to never.

Yes tickets are on sale, just go online and find it.

This doesn't make sense as otherwise the economy would have had a massive decline during this period. Yes there would have been a decrease in consumer spending but not by the amount showing.

I think many do not understand the way VAT works. They think of it like duty which is a cost to business.

This is without doubt one of the worst articles on Covid i have read. I veer to the side of vaccines, but to spew nonsense that without the vaccine there will be huge numbers of deaths, in fact if you are not vaccinated by next year you will be dead is wrong. At the start we were told we must lockdown for two weeks and then we would be good. Two weeks came and went and we were still lockdown. Then the vaccine came and we were told if you are vaccinated you are good. Now not only do you need to be but everyone must. In addition it was you only need to be vaccinated twice and all good, now you need boosters every 6 months and even then that may not help. Admit it you have no idea and are just trying to scaremonger people into doing what you currently think is right. And if in 6 months to a year what you thought was right turns out to be wrong, you don't care, you will just move on to the next thing you think.

On one page the Government is asking the private sector to hire more of their people, on this they are saying wages will be going up. Business will now not hire anyone unless absolutely necessary, and at the same time begin to look at reducing any waste until they get more clarity on Government plans . A lot of business have been stuck in the catch 22 of having 3 people to do 2 jobs but due to the wage this was OK. Now if the wage went up a silly amount, then it would be 2 to do 3 with the expected increase in productivity. Will be interesting times.

They don't actually care what the people think of them. They know that there is a % who will support them no matter what and if the other side is bad then they will get back in. case in point is Birdie below, no matter how bad PLP have been he still loves them. Then there will be people who support FNM no matter what (Evans the letter writer). All along its only the people they claim to care about being destroyed.

You keep going on about west palm beach, the only time they make more money on the high end properties is when it is over $6 million (which is our top rate). I have agreed that we should not have a limit on real property. however to think that will raise a lot of money is nonsensical. So how do you propose to raise all this serious money without all those areas disappearing? What taxes do you think we should implement.?

I will assume that when talking about wealthy foreigners you are talking about the gated areas out west. Those areas which have a large number of restaurants then the east. I take it that if all the foreigners stopped spending you feel these restaurants will stay open, as they will not be affected. In addition each home has to have been built (unless the magically appear), who builds them? I agreed that property taxes should increase, but i disagree with your view that we gain nothing else from them. In addition if someone is a second home owner but not working here, how are you going to tax their income? That is earned elsewhere?
