SP, since you're obviously the genius here, perhaps you can figure it out for yourself. Bloody brilliant. Do you honestly believe the claptrap you're using to justify your high and mighty position? If so, then it is you who is deluded. Besides, from the language you use, it would sugget you don't really have a stake in this game. Are you even Bahamian?

Where is the dredger registered? If in the Bahamas, they can be held responsible for damages to the marine environment. Even if not registered in the Bahamas, a lawsuit would perhaps cost them more than they would make in the dredging job, or at the very least stop dredging until other avenues can be echausted. Maybe another way to approach the issue.

There's either something missing in this story, or this is a sorry excuse for a police force we have in the Bahamas. Heads need to roll on this one and charges brought against the thug officers responsible.

As another poster says, if someone's shooting at me, I am sure as hell not stopping to see if they are undercover police.

And we are supposed to teach our children to go and find the nice policeman if they ever need help????!!!!!

DillyTree says...

This seems pretty simple to sort out -- did the police have a warrant? who was named in the warrant? what was covered in the warrant? which judge signed the warrant? what evidence was presented as reason for needing the warrant? and by whom was the warrant requested?

Of course, none of this will see the light of day.

I think LBT is giving the PLP government way too much credit. These morons can't even submit a bill to the house without it being full of grammatical errors and mis-spellings, let alone run a spy network.

At the rate we're going, I'm not sure there will be anything left to govern by 2017.

DillyTree says...

As Proud says, "No new taxes until our government grows up and starts to act responsibly."

One thing I've not seen in all the VAT discussions is an estimate on how much money could be saved if government were to curb spending. Would we still need to have VAT under those circumstances?

The other thing that baffles me even more is how this government will collect VAT - given that they don't seem to be able to collect the taxes already on the books. Outstanding taxes need to be collected before raising new ones!

What a fantastic job by our kids! They made us proud, and we must continue to encourage the youth of the Bahamas that with hard work and dedication, they can reach their goals. These youngsters are the future of our country.

And for those who want to politicise it, let's just work on congratulating these kids for a job well done.

Are you so blind as to not see the bigger picture? Mrs. Butler Turner was being held and touched against her wishes by a man whom she asked twice to let go of her. That is assault by legal definition. So while we're discussing bad behaviour, perhaps you should ask yourself if the other esteemed member of parliament shouldn't have been censured for his disgraceful and disrespectful behaviour towards a woman. A woman is entitled by law to defend herself.

DillyTree says...

Really? Counting must have not been your strong subject in school. How do you account for United Nations statistics that states 35% of women worldwide have been physically and/or sexually abused by an intimate partner/spouse? And of those, 40 to 70% of those account for female murder victims. I think you'll find that is far more than the 239 people missing on Flight 370. Do you not see the larger picture?

As for Mr. Mitchell's response, perhaps he can work harder on helping to form a better world for our Bahamian women and set an example instead of resorting to petty behaviour.
