But they are not all illegals, not even a majority illegals. In fact the government’s own comprehensive survey of these shanty towns found that 80% of residents there have some form of legal status. Minister Foulkes said the same himself.
Fred Smith is a national treasure and hero. Be very careful who you allow to govern you because the tendency is to take away your freedoms and liberties to which you are entitled. First they go after the Haitian or foreigner, the next day it is Bahamians. This only grows stronger the longer one has been governing. There is no Bahamian living today that has done more to ensure our constitutional rights, hold governments accountable and preserve our democracy. May he live to a ripe old age, we need him.
NEMA failed the Bahamas in the aftermath of the storm. Took far too long to evacuate people. Either there was no plan, or the plan was not competently carried out, or the plan was inadequate. Either way NEMA failed us and we need a comprehensive investigation and review of NEMA’s response so that we can learn from this experience and put in place protocols to ensure that history does not repeat itself. I lived through the worse of Joaquin and NEMA and the defense force for that matter were just as pathetic then.
Thank you for being honest but you are a self admitted hypocrite. The very people you rail against you create employment for and admit that all excess funds are exported out the country. What benefit is that ? Why not hire a Bahamian?! You hire a Haitian because you want cheap Labour and would rather pay a foreigner than to pay a Bahamian to save a few dollars. Well I reiterate I have never employed a Haitian in my life. It’s Bahamians like you who have created the very “ problem” you complain about. Until you hire a Bahamian please stop w your racist rants against Haitians.
Neither, you are wrong as usual, my family has been here since 1782, and I have never employed a Haitian in my life. I am sure a hypocrite like you can not say the same.
They are a net economic benefit to the Bahamas but we do need integrated communities not segregated ones, hopefully some of them will become your neighbors.
Our only hope to fix BPL long term is to privatize. Everything else is madness. We have suffered through 50 years of unending corruption, stupidity, indifference, incompetence and lack of accountability. privatize!

Sounds reasonable to me, seems the least we can do given they have lost everything.

Why has it taken so long to organize the mailboats, these mailboats should have been in abaco days ago? Seems like we had no plan before the storm.
