Dumbo says...

Adrian, just curious, is there a problem or issue with the topic of opening the Bahamas up to Bahamian residents? the point here is that we discuss all sorts of things and just simply seem to accept that the mega element of the Bahamian society and economy in particular should be reserved for non Bahamians and opened just for them and closed to Bahamians. The particular focus here is exchange control which is really the prevention of Bahamians from entering the the open world of economics in our country. Why should the access to foreign currency to develop projects in the Bahamas or for international investments be reserved openly for non Bahamians even protected for them....but closed to Bahamians? We are in the embarrassing situation of Baha Mar largely because of this. If the global sphere of opportunities was open to Bahamians, there would be no need for the special foreigner....would there? Just suppose that Bahamians were eligible to receive the greater portion or even the full kitty of.... literally billions of dollars given to foreigners to protect a limited number of jobs....no equity participation....but must pay taxes to repay the same.....while other direct opportunities abound if the Bahamas was open for business to Bahamians.
