A good quality education is an important thing. It is not just the young girls, but also the young men, who need assistance, not so much financially, but of our, the adults, time.
They need mentoring, and our patience. Too much of our culture is based on a "respect your elders so don't say anything that contradicts us" attitude. We need to change that.
The young need to feel that what they say matters, and that we are listening. Only then are we able to guide them.
Mr. Lightbourn is correct in that we need to prevent young teenage girls getting pregnant again, tube tying is not the answer, but we do need to find a way to convince them to finish their education.
An educated parent (male and female) produces a better educated child. A better educated child stands a better chance of employment and less likely to be making babies that they can neither support, bring up, or educate. Such children will also become a burden on the social services etc. of our country.
How to introduce a new tax called VAT, collect a large amount of additional revenue, and then waste it all for personal political gain on corrupt programs like NHI.
But that is what keeping your majority at grade "D" can do for you.
Does Mr. Bowe also consider the high price of electricity caused by years of governments support an over staffed very inefficient corporation? What about the rent for the shop and the up keep of the shop, a shop with few customers because the government has always ignored the infrastructure that is needed to spur development. And why is Mr. Bowe not complaining about the poor productivity of Bahamian labour that causes costs to be high.
And last of all theft. That has to be figured into the cost as well.
Mr. Bowe is someone who has been given a job by government. I wonder what job he would have been able to get if he had gone to work in the private sector?

Minnis just wants to be the leader for his own ego. He doesn't care about the FNM or the country.
Why would anyone fight to finance that? Wells maybe? Let's see him put up some big money to back up his big "very old" mouth.

The persons that Shameless Gibson refers to that the FNM let go were staff that represented the "over staffing" created by previous governments.
They were reducing the recurrent expenditure of the running of the country.
Soon the IMF will require much more drastic cuts to his precious over staffed government operations.
Shame on you Shameless Gibson, the two situations are totally different.

And we wonder why we have such a high crime rate when we have a Government that leads by not abiding by the law.
PLP Government message, by its leadership, is that it is ok to break the law.

The problem is that most of the MP's, regardless of party, are very old and have no interest/energy in doing the right thing.
We need young (under 50 years of age) people in the House.
Both the FNM and the PLP have a bunch of deadheads.

If the PHA was run properly there would be no need for NHI.
All that NHI does is provide for more waste.
