You are right. We fail to see that a good, GOOD,3 Phase Electrician or Master Plumber can earn well over $100,00.00 a year. That is more than most lawyers and accountants.

You are right we do need a good school and Polytechnic. We both know that there are many young Bahamians who are very capable and just need the incentive and opportunity.

True, and the Land Law that has been waiting for passage since 2010.

It would make getting a mortgage much faster and cheaper.

And why Cayman and the others get the top investors.

There are four(4) separate Bills.

The first three have nothing to do with sissys. They affect children and the family.

There are many families where the children are of the same father and mother who, at the time of their birth are married. The only difference is where the mother delivered the child.

If the child was born in The Bahamas then it is Bahamain, if it was born in, say New York, then it is a foreigner, even if the child returns at six weeks.'

So you have two children (say two brothers) who both grow up here but one brother is s foreigner.

That is wrong so vote YES for Bill one.

***"The IDB also noted the relatively low graduation rates at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), the main provider of occupational and vocational training to high school graduates, non-finishers and adults.
“The bulk of students fall between 19-23 years of age, and the Institute enrolls about 1,700 students each year during the fall, and graduates about 150 to 440 persons a year on average,” the IDB said."***

This is serious.

Economist says...

Agreed.

Economist says...

Yes, we really need a good Polytechnic College. I would also suggest a percentage of foreign teachers though. Studies have shown that the best Universities and Private Boarding Schools have a high number of foreign professors and teachers.

The idea behind this is that they provide the student with different points of view thus making the students better thinkers and problem solvers.

Universities like Harvard, Princeton, Oxford and Cambridge all have a high percentage of foreign professors.

Economist says...

Good statement. But what is the solution? How do we turn this around?

Much of this stems for a feeling that we have a right to a job because we are Bahamian and, no matter how bad we are at the job, you are stuck with me.

I don't have to work because Immigration will protect me.

Economist says...

So if you have a child, out of wedlock, in The Bahamas, you will kick his foreign backside out of the country, right? You would not want that dirty piece of no good half-Bahamian child that you had.

Man you must produce some sorry excuses for children if you feel that a child with half your blood should be kicked out of the country.
