Not only those like Atlantis, but also the businesses like Buckeye, PharmaChem, GB Shipyard, Bradford Marine, Polymers, etc. all of which invested tens of millions of dollars and are the ones who provide the only real employment in Grand Bahama.
In addition, these foreigners all pay well and provide good benefits.
But you will see that these are industries that came when we were less xenaphobic than we are today.
Very good Dr. Rodgers. Agree completely. It is time that we, as a people, grew up and joined the rest of the world. It is much more difficult to do business in The Bahamas compared to other countries.
We are scared of change insted of imprasing it and moveing forward. The rest of the world is leaving us behind.
Insted of folowing the Cayman Island,s to success and low unemployment, we are folowing Haiti, to failure and high unemployment.
Every other airline in the world has been laying off staff, even the ones owned by governments.
I did not see anything about layoffs for an airline that is already overstaffed and, as correctly stated above, has NEVER made money.
Cooper just wants us tax payers to keep paying. This crazy.
Shut Bahamasair down it is not vital to our ifrastructure, indeed it is holding back our infrastructure becuase we spend money on Bahamasair rather than the ifrastrcture that the islands badly need.
Cayman has done over 11,000 tests for a population of 65,000. That is the equivalant of The Bahamas doing 66,000 tests. Remember they offered to sell up to 45,000 tests to at cost.
They sold 35,000 to Bermuda which has done over 7,000 tests for a population of 62,000 so that is around the equivalant of us doing 42,000 tests.
You can be sure that they know who is asymtomatic, who is coming down with it but has not shown any symtoms yet and who is already sufferring fron COVID 19.
Our PM did not go to Grand Bahama because "the professionals told him that there were pockets of COVID 19 in GB and he might walk into one because they did not know where they were.
We will never get any investors until we change our immigration policy and make immigration an efficient department that can actually trun around a FDI investors "residents and work permit" applications in 30 to 45 days insted of "whenever we feel like getting around to these damned foreigners applications".
Customs needs to be made a more courtious well trained and efficient department to facilitate, insted of frustrate, business.
Mr. Kinsale made a good point the other day about investment which we should follow.
That is why Cayman is so far ahead of us. That is why Cayman has low unemployment and a low national debt. It is why Cayman has better hospitals, better schools and education than The Bahamas.
But we have attitude, we are proud of our attitude, it might be destroying the country, give us high unemployment, an overloaded school system, high national debt and so on, but thats ok "we is Bahamian" and you have to understand how" we do things in The Bahamas". Even if it destroys us.
