It is required by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization.

It sets bench mark standards that are designed to reduce the threat of a terrorist act, domestic or international.

It also classifies runways, air navigation etc. In other words it is the safety standard bureau recognized all over the world. If The Bahamas did not follow them, even for domestic flight, it could be down graded with the result that not international airlines would fly here and no Bahamian airline would be able to fly to international destinations.

No country would want their citizens flying in a country that does not practice these standards.

The problem is that the demand is under legislation enacted to deal with "terrorism" so is not proper or lawful.

If they want this information they should do it lawfully.

Economist says...

For a person to be investigated someone has to file a complaint against that person.

It requires that person to stand up like a real adult and make the complaint.

Too often we complain and say things about people, which we know about first hand but are to scared to make the complaint. When we fail to make the complaint the person gets away with whatever they did.

If you know an FNM who has wronged you then go and make the complaint.

Let's take the politics out of this and you will see that what Sir Frankie is saying makes sense.

We all know that the PLP messed up. Let the police do their investigations and the DPM go about fixing the problem. We don't need the DPM to be wasting his time on the PLP.

The DPM is a smart man and we look to him for the solutions, as do the Rating agencies.

So the property is supposed to have 2,000 rooms.

Of the 2,000 rooms 800 are available for rent and 50% of the 800 are occupied or 400 rooms or 20% of the property. So for the year they might hit Min. D'Aguilar's estimate of 25%.

Economist says...

Agreed.

Economist says...

Obie is making no sense.

Bahamians who go to the US, Europe, Canada or elsewhere don't do it because each country has "boots on the ground".

Min D'Aguilar is on the right track. Almost everyone books online these days.

Wilshcombe is stuck in the 70's and 80's and our lack of stopover tourists shows it.

RBDF needs to turn them around at our territorial water boundary.

Once it becomes known that they won't be allowed into Bahamian waters many will try to go else where and avoid The Bahamas.

Man Tal you out of date. Cost cutting caused the retirement of the Royal Yacht Britannia.

"Since the decommissioning of Britannia in 1997 the Queen no longer has a royal yacht."

Even the Queen had to do her part in effort to get UK spending under control.

Maybe we need to follow her example.

I have heard the same thing, "lackey". He should not be sent to the UK either.
