Pass the legislation first and then create the agency in accordance with the law.

Mr. Bell, the NIA was a lawless group, I won't even call it an organization. What law was there to stop it from spying on the PLP political opponents?

Good comments. Your are right "Enough talk...Get it done".

This has been a fly by night way of giving unscrupulous persons employment for too long.
It needs to be properly regulated.
Required:
1. Real License, for any one who drives a jet ski, that requires a certain number of hours of training and a written test. Limit the number of times the test can be written to 3 times.
2. Police back ground checks for any one who drives a jet ski.
3. Enforcement of the rules as to speed and how the beach is approached.
4. Large registration numbers on the jet ski so that it is clearly readable from 100 yards.
5. Compulsory liability insurance of not less than One million dollars.

That is for starters, they may be many additional items required.

John, Sir Lynden's policy was only in name. A study of education, currency rules, and immigration will show that the so called policy did nothing for Bahamians.

Economist says...

I don't think that he was complaining. As I read the article Symonette was saying that we need to review they way in which we process the application so that it has certainty and is done in a timely fashion.
To much about immigration is done on a whim. We need to put time frames in like other countries.
I have seen countries like Switzerland give a Bahamian a work permit in 2 weeks, and no that was not a temporary permit either.
Everything is still run like we are in the 1960's. The Bahamas has to move into the 21st Century and have set times. This will make everyone accountable to get the applications moving.

Economist says...

Wait a minute, this is a building with goods not yet cleared and there is no security

Maybe we should use some of the overstaffed (extra 200) Bahamasair employees to do the security.

Agreed Sheeprunner12. I am not interested in what the PLP did or did not do. We all have a pretty good idea. That is why The Bahamian people voted them out.

The FNM just needs to tell us what they are doing to fix the Country.

***"We had to bring in technical experts, two-three sets of experts, and there was plenty of work done locally that had value. We had spent $80,000-$100,000 in preparing that [bid] document."***

Welcome to the real world of business. Companies spend money on bids all the time. Depending on the project, some companies spend millions on the bid alone.

You knew that there was an election coming up and that there was a "possibility" that the Government might change.

This happens to companies all over the world.

Grow up!

I agree with Alex_Charles. I don't care about who did what. Tell us how you are going to fix the problem and get the occupancy rate up.

At the same time tell us where you are with the hotels in Freeport as Grand Bahama is in dire straights.

no past.....just the future

Economist says...

The fact is that the PLP needs a fresh face. The only one they have is Chester and he might just be the one to move things along.

The other PLP members should wait a year or two and then one by one resign and trigger a by-election and get some young new faces into the house.

The old guard Senators should resign after the Convention and start the renewal process.

Davis is far to tainted to be the Leader.

The Country needs a new vibrant opposition.
