After reading Birdie's comments, I have come to one conclusion: There are two types of Bahamians; The PLP corrupted or hooked on the Pindling era crew-These are the ones who have been living of the fat of the land since the drug trade first started or ignoramuses who just don't seem to want to grow and are complacent with the same bullshit that has been going on for decades. The other small percent are Bahamians who have some form of dignity and are frustrated by the majority’s backward thinking. Unfortunately the Bahamian masses see nothing wrong with this picture. That is scary and it only shows how much our education system has failed! The problem is further compounded when these politicians play on the ignorance of the gullible Bahamians.

It is a sad day in this country when people do not seem to see the reason why this minister should resign because of his statement. It is a shame for people to downplay comments that Mr. Miller made in the HOA as just being the norm. ONLY in the Bahamas is this considered to be the norm. Sure he apologized and perhaps he may very well be remorseful. The big question is when are we gonna hold our leaders to a higher level? Sure everyone makes mistakes. We are all human right? And to err is human. Nevertheless, people who run for public office cannot afford to make these kinds of grave mistakes. They should know that when they run for such positions that they are bound by the highest standards of the land. If we as a people do not start to speak out and hold them accountable then they will always feel that they can get by with the same bullshit over and over again. This problem is far reaching in the Bahamas-Not only do politicians feel that they could do anything without consequences: Pastors, senior office workers, police officers and many more feel that they are untouchable. Some politicians even get mad when they are put on blast for their blatant abuse of power or corruption. Say what ya like but thank God for the fourth estate of the Bahamas. Without newspapers and tabloids like the Tribune and yes the Punch, watching their movements, these clowns would have ruined the Bahamas completely by now.

Exactly- The fact of the matter is that the present government is in power NOW. Therefore, they are responsible for here and now. They are the policy makers. Both the PLP and the FNM submitted manifestos outlining their intentions if they win the election. But most shallow minded Bahamians are incapable of making a decision based on past performance. No, they go with the party that is spending the big bucks and bearing the most gifts. Unfortunately, as a result, everyone suffers. Talk about overspending on infrastructures as much as you want. At least ya coulda see the money spent. Two years done gone by and I ain see nothin’ yet!

@concernedcitizen If I remember correctly, Ingraham did mention Bahamian companies need not apply. However, I believe birdie misconstrued what the then prime minister meant. He was referring to the Blue Water crew who was tryin to do under the table deals to take over BTC, along with their cronies, just before general election.

Another Band-Aid solution? Folks we cannot let our anger or frustration get in the way of the principle that one is considered innocent until proven guilty. If our police officers were honest and if the entire Bahamas was not as corrupted as it is, then I wouldn't even think about what Dr. Nottage is proposing. But we have a lot of criminals on the RBPF who wouldn't think twice about “lockin” up some young man because of his looks and claiming he is the murder suspect. It has happened too many times. Simply put aside all the bullshit and clean up the judicial system. I am sorry. But it is a dam disgrace that we are still be in these kinds of predicaments, where our government cannot solve societal problems properly after 40 years of independence. My God! If that is the case then let’s go back to the good ole Union Jack.

Sounds outlandish, but you are 100% correct. But that will never happen as long as these greedy church leaders keep protesting for the wrong reasons and PGC would have to grow a pair first.
