Tal, gone are the days when local musicians and entertainers got the respect they deserved and were an integral part of the Bahamian culture. Our last Musicians and Entertainer Union Leader, Duke S. Hanna, was a true leader who demanded that every hotel had some form of local entertainment. I don't know who this clown is who they have posing as union leader:He needs to crawl back under the rock from whence he cometh!
Sorry ThisisOurs, gonna have to agree with John on this one. The problem of identity is far-reaching in this country. We certainly cannot expect to solve the social problems in our society without first dealing with the sociological aspects that exist. Unfortunately, the police who harass their young counterparts need help themselves and are in no way trained to deal with certain issues-So they simply lash out and use physical force, thus abusing their power. We are in a very sad state. The young black males in our society are already doomed by the majority of Bahamians. We judge all the same. The educational system is failing them, the church provides false hope and the judicial system drives the nail in the coffin by allowing them to be placed among hardened criminals for petty crimes, where they have to prove themselves by doing something really tragic.
Thank you for your response. I am aware of the clinic near me. The problem is I don't have any experience in catching stray dogs and I don't have any cages to put them in once caught. However, I would be willing to tag along with a team to assist in such an operation in my area.
I was looking forward to this program. I would like to get involved as there are surrounding neighbours (mostly Haitian villages) that have many stray dogs that are a nuisance to the area.
Presenting the argument that many people are addicted to gambling does not provide a strong case against the reason for legalizing web shops. Fact is people are addicted to many things, including alcohol, cigarettes, porn etc. So do we order all liquor stores closed as well, or do we prohibit all stores from selling cigarettes? Adults need to be given the chance to make their own decisions in life, whether it is good or bad. That comes with democracy. But what we have in the Bahamas is theocracy, where the church is trying to govern the country. Not everyone is a Christian, so how can the so called pastors speak on behalf of everyone. I do agree that the referendum should be honoured, even though I was one of the persons who voted for the legalization of web shops in the Bahamas. The church’s job is provide guidance and counseling for their members and believers of their faith, not to dictate what should be allowed or not allowed to take place in our society, bearing in mind that in falls within the law.

Presenting the argument about not legalizing the webshops because too many people are addicted is not a strong case. Thank God someone can stand up and call a spade a spade! Unfortunately many Bahamians still live in la la land. They keep believing that once they keep pretending everything will be alright. But all the drug money of yesteryear has start to fade away and reality is now kickin in.
