There is a new illness that is now being discovered which affects aged politicians who have been rejected at the polls . It is called Trumpitis Mellitis. It is clear from the behavior, threats and actions of Dr Minnis that he is suffering from this virus. The fundamental question that this disgraced politician has to answer is what is it that he cannot understand about the fact that he is no longer admired by the people who once admired him.

This response from Prime Minister Davis is unbelievable. Any properly managed Government would have in place mechanisms and systems in place a long time before this crisis arose. I am confident that this crisis would never have arisen had the proper proactive systems been in place from day one. The response by our Prime Minister clearly illustrates a reactive government. We need a proactive government. It seems like every crisis during this administration was only addressed after it emerged. I am sure the FNM can do a better job. I hope so?
This man sounds like a Bahamian version of Donald Trump. The only thing left to confirm this is his plagiarism and adaption of the Republican Mantra: Make Bahamas Great Again. This man is displaying his political and personal arrogance every day. Time for him to call it quits. Please.
This is not a problem. This negotiation tactic will backfire. The Government should bring in nurses from the Philippines, India, Nigeria and Ghana who will be very happy with the current terms and conditions of service our nurses receive. Clearly Ms. Lightbourn fails to understand that we a living in global labor market for these professionals.
Despite all of the empirical evidence that is currently available related to how this drug destroys the health ( physically, mentally, emotionally and morally) of users, users continue to be misled by the pushers and apologists. The Government must lead on this issue by cracking down on users, peddlers and pushers.
This whole exercise appears to be none other than an election gimmick. Please let the public know what were the criteria employed in this Job Evaluation exercise . From what this article reports it appears that the sole purpose of the exercise was to dangle a salary increase to the public servants if the PLP is re-elected. We would like to know what were the compensable factors addressed? What were the Terms of Reference of the consultancy? That the conclusion of the exercise was that public servants should be given a raise to keep up with inflation is disingenuous. Everyone knows that. The fundamental question is whether the jobs of the public servants covered by the consultancy are WORTH the pay they receive. A properly constructed Job Evaluation exercise cannot be completed without reference to all job categories and classifications. It is only then we can objectively assess the relative worth of each job in the Civil Service of the Bahamas. Please don’t use a serious exercise as a political gimmick. A more basic question is whether some public servants are being paid too much for the work they are doing.
These are very valid arguments but yet the PLP “gone running”with the Chinese Belt and Road initiative trap. One would have thought that with a comprehensive due diligence assessment of the pros and cons of this new “yellow elephant” being shoved down our throats, and despite selling out the nation just for a few million dollars to line the pockets of the big guys, the PLP politicians would have put the Bahamas first. However, in light of this recent loan that we have been tricked and trapped into we have fallen for something that will hurt our nation forever. Just imagine Eleuthera becoming a Chinese owned island for 100 years because we can’t repay the loan for the hospital?
Despite Dr Minnis’s shortcomings, politically and otherwise, his criticism of this yellow elephant is sound and erases any negatives that may currently blemish his political record. Thank you very much Dr. Minnis . You are a true patriot.
I cannot wait for the Chinese Embassy’s propagandist to reply to Dr. Minnis’s points. It will be virtually impossible for them to come up with any logical thoughts to counter Dr. Minnis.
