A 6.3% rate increase is going to inflict serious financial pain on most of GBPC's customers unless the intent is to really sock it to the higher usage customers. And we all know that would result in more revenue losses for GBPC as struggling businesses simply decide to close their doors for good.

Provisions in our taxation laws and related enforcement regulations that violate or conflict with well established due process and other rights laid down in our Constitution are not legally valid.

No government, minister of finance or revenue collection official, should be considered immune from legal claims for damages arising from their wrongful acts aimed at extorting a business or its owner(s), or wrongfully shutting down a business, in connection with a legitimate taxation dispute where there quite possibly has been a violation of due process and other fundamental constitutional rights.

Nor is the stealing of vital national assets from the Bahamian people by a corrupt cabal of marauders led by Snake and Ferguson.

You obviously have never owned or run a business with employees in The Bahamas.

Be careful what you pray for here. This corrupt Davis led PLP government's sponsored heist via a PPP of a controlling ownership interest in our nation's vital electrical power distribution grid by a ruthless investor cartel led by the unscrupulous and insatiably greedy likes of Snake and Anthony Ferguson does not come anywhere close to a privatization in the interest of the Bahamian people.

You only have to look at Venezuela and the initial corrupt, hurried and very non-transparent privatization of its vital national energy monopolies a few decades ago to understand what will come our way sooner than we care to think. There are much better ways of moving forward in dealing with BPL's problems as opposed to simply giving away a controlling ownership interest in our nation's energy sector to the wrong type of investor group.

Pintard and the other senior FNM politicians have yet to make it clear to all concerned that if the FNM is elected the next government, they stand ready to completely unravel these corrupt back-room BPL related PPP deals financially engineered by the crooked likes of Snake and Anthony Ferguson.

Robert Sands' view is of course very jaded by the fact that a shorter work week would give Baha Mar and the entire hotel industry many more financially appealing options for reducing their personnel costs by way of a greater number of lower cost part-time and shift workers with fewer benefit entitlements.

The corrupt Davis led PLP government's fears about growing civil unrest arising from the already extremely high and ever increasing true under-employment and unemployment rates are driving all of this four-day work-week nonsense talk.

Stumpy Davis' only solution to the extremely high under-employment and unemployment levels is to codify into our nation's laws, regulations and statistics that workers shall be regarded as fully employed even if they are unable to work a forty-hour work week in order to buy food, medicines, and pay for other necessities for themselves and their families.

Bottom line: This grossly incompetent and corrupt PLP government has been much too pre-occupied in back-room deals to greatly enrich themselves and their favourite cronies, with no attention devoted to meaningful policies aimed at creating job opportunities for the many under-employed and unemployed. Truly sad for all hurting Bahamians and their families to say the least.

GBPC's proposed 6.3% increase in electricity bills for Grand Bahamians is nothing compared to the eventual 15%+ increase that Snake and Anthony Ferguson have planned in their financial models for New Providence if they and their cabal of marauders are allowed to seize control of BPL's electrical power generation and distribution systems in the greatest heist ever of national assets for mere pennies on the dollar of true value.

It is truly alarming that this most corrupt Davis led PLP government believes it has the unfettered power to aid and abet the stealing of majority ownership and control of such a vital government monopoly, i.e. the bulk of our nation's energy sector, without public hearings or proper exploration of other 'management only' alternatives, and with no transparent competitive bidding process to discover the true and much higher value of the national assets being transferred to the cabal of marauders on the basis of financial theft engineering done by the corrupt and insatiably greedy likes of Snake, Anthony Ferguson and others like them.
