PM Davis, Franky Wilson a/k/a Snake and Anthony Ferguson are the three main crooks in this most outrageous theft of national assets for pennies on the dollar. These three goons are the architects behind this most brazen and unconscionable rip-off of the Bahamian people and they must be held fully responsible and accountable for their fraudulent and other wrongful acts.
Under the guise and ruse of saving BPL/BEC from inevitable collapse, Davis, Snake and Ferguson are seeking to greatly and unjustly enrich themselves, and their participating cabal of marauders, by seizing majority control of a state-owned energy monopoly that is vital to our well-being and national security interests.
There was no price discovery of the assets involved here through a competitive bidding process and no transparency behind the more critical aspects of the deal that should have discussed and blessed by the Bahamian people well before proceeding to the signing of contracts, etc. Also, the possibility of government entering into a management arrangement rather than a transfer of ownership and control was not explored.
The article above is well written and informative but Neil Hartnell fails to mention that the Bahamian people have been left saddled with the $700+ million of outstanding loans and capitalised interest relating to the 'old' BEC that presumably have since been rolled up into our national debt because they were guaranteed by government.
If the leadership of the FNM is unable to bring about justice for the Bahamian people by preventing this outrageous heist of national assets, then they do not deserve the trust of the voters come the next general election.
Forget the BMC, these dumber than dumb lawyers have usurped so many other institutions and organisations in our country, including our judiciary, and entire government for that matter.
This is all going to result in greatly increased costs (higher inflation) for consumers, many failed businesses, even higher unemployment, and much fewer new 'start up' businesses. And all for what? So that this corrupt Davis led PLP government can then go about wasting, squandering and outrightly stealing whatever additional revenues are collected from already struggling businesses.
Meanwhile enormous tax concessions will continue to be given to the foreign developers and the cruise ship owners/operators who have never paid their fair share of taxes because of the corrupt back-room deals they cut with our most senior political leaders.
And let's not forget the really big local tax dodgers like the greedy Snake and his cabal of marauders, including Shell Oil's trading operations conducted from within The Bahamas, not to mention the cross-border money transfer activities associated with the illegal web-gaming operations of the criminal thugs like Sebas Bastian and Craig Flowers.
Corrupt Stumpy Davis, Dumbo Halkitis and Always Angry Simple Simon are conducting an all out assault on too many smaller tax cheats unable to afford fat cat lawyers and accountants while the really big tax dodgers look on with complete impunity.
> She said officials had discussed the matter with a senior economics wage specialist at the International Labour Organisation.
The "officials" should have had a town hall meeting with a large and diverse group of representatives of the local business community. At such a meeting they would have been told over and over again that ever increasing government taxes and fees, combined with excessive and overly burdensome government regulations, are major contributing factors to the cost of living crisis being experienced by so many Bahamians.
At the town hall meeting, these same officials would have been reminded that the greedy cruise ship industry continues to contribute very little if anything to our domestic economy. They also would have learned that this PLP government has failed to introduce any meaningful policies aimed at creating decent paying jobs to help drive down the very high unemployment rate, especially among young people.
And rather than officials meeting with a presumably foreign senior economics wage specialist, Pia and her fellow cabinet members should be meeting with a couple of Bahamian senior economics cost-cutting specialists!
The 'modern life' greedy lawyers are a big part of the divorce costs and traumas you speak of. Our society has way too many greedy lawyers and nowhere near enough qualified marital counsellors. And as many of us well know, the clergy in our country are often not the best counsellors when it comes to marital issues.
