It seems Fidelity Bank has decided it should go into the "junk debt" collection business where the junk targeted for collection is its own worthless junk loans going back many years that it could not previously collect. But any banker with half of a brain knows that the ability to recover most delinquent consumer loans is usually seriously diminished by the passage of time which makes doing so a prohibitively costly and time consuming, if not futile, exercise.

Many of the delinquent borrowers Bowe is proposing to go after and have the courts declare bankrupt if they do not pony up, are likely politically connected government employees. Therefore the optics behind a somewhat punitive initiative to collect very old written-off debts will likely not be good for future business. It is probably more cost effective to just maintain a record of those persons who should not receive new loans until their delinquent ones have been settled to the bank's satisfaction. Besides, everyone knows that banks like Fidelity and Commonwealth, which specialiize in consumer lending, are usually only too quick to justify the very high interest rates they charge on the greater default risk inherent in their lending business.

If Bowe is truly convinced there is significant hidden value to be realised from threatening significant delinquent borrowers (going back several years or more) with bankruptcy proceedings, then it is in the best interest of Fidelity's shareholders that he pursue doing so without fanfare.

This idiot Cambridge is totally incompetent and should be immediately fired for his "eight out of ten" rating of BPL. And for him to say with a straight face that BPL's performance as a utility company is better than others in our region like Haiti really takes the cake. What a moron!

Roly-Poly Davis has approved BPL being mismanaged by the most incompetent people he could find, and then he selected Slo Mo Sears to ensure and oversee its abysmal performance at great cost to the Bahamian people.

Roly-Poly PM Davis is a man who enjoys demeaning women in the same way as his good friend Peter Nygard who is now doing time in a foreign prison.

And pray tell Mr. Doofus AG, where are the thousands of criminals you speak of going to be imprisoned?

Fox Hill Prison has been choc-a-bloc full and overflowing for decades now, to the point where at least one criminal must be released to make room for the next one to be incarcerated.

Ryan is a dingbat who blurts condescending nonsense for the hell of it. He really likes to think we are all so much more stupid than he is.

> Officers attached to the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the incident on Sunday night at his residence located off Carmichael Road.

DEU officers probably used this terrible incident as the ideal excuse to arrest someone else they have been after for quite sometime. Meanwhile, the real culprit who raped this young child is probably still at large. Can't imagine young children remembering and identifying a white Nissan Skyline, especially the sexually assaulted and traumatised young girl.

Bingo! And the corrupt Davis led PLP government has already 'secretly' approved the massive new condo project which will result in far fewer jobs for Bahamians than a replacement hotel.

> Every taxpayer has an obligation to pay the taxes which have been assessed,” he {Wilson} added. “If they don’t pay the taxes that are assessed, they run the risk of action by the Government. That has to be clear. That’s not a threat. That’s the law.

What this buffoon will never understand is that no government elected by the people to stamp out outrageously excessive amounts of waste, fraud and corruption is entitled to pick the pockets of taxpayers for its obvious unwillingness to do so.

ExposedU2C says...

Simpleton Simon Wilson, Brain Dead Halkitis and Fat Head PM Davis are unwittingly shutting down our entire economy with all of this terribly misguided tax foolishness aimed at continuing to grow the unsustainable size of our already grossly over-bloated, very costly and unproductice government work force.

The size of the public sector work force is killing the private sector. It is now more than ever a deadly cancer that must be starved of, rather than fed with, additional tax dollars.

Our corrupt "all for me" political leaders should **not** be subsidising these foreign investors with additional concessions of any kind, period.
