Grand Bahamians paid attention to when Eleutherans were told their rates would be cut by 50% in July to show up on their August bill, due to the horrible blackouts and surges, and it was a red herring. The 50% came off of the basic fuel rate and nothing else. So, persons only saw a few dollars removed instead of their bill's total cut completely in half. Grand Bahamians also noted that the promised price reduction and savings for Eleutherans did not occur either. They figure the power companies cannot be trusted after seeing how their other comrades were lied to, bamboozled and their electric bill prices ran amok. Actions speak louder and clearer than words apparently.

Eleuthera brings in a lot of air revenue and it is appalling the state of the airports. Yes, Governors Harbour Airport is being refurbished and we are all happy. North Eleuthera Airport, which has more airline traffic got trailers and that must suffice. Some of that same revenue being generated can be used to expand the building there or build a brand-new airport.

We sympathize with the parent, but can you imagine owning a business and some thug pulls up on you with a gun? Those persons will need therapy for that trauma for years, because of fearing for their lives.
When police officers are trained, does it involve someone trying to shoot at them with live rounds? No amount of training can compare to a real-life situation. I have a son and we are doing our best to raise him to follow the laws of God and man. I hope this is a wakeup call to other criminals. I also feel sorry for police officers who are forced to take a life. I pray as a business owner and parent, that I never have to come face to face with such an experience nor raise a son who does this.
All we can do is try to bring children up in a loving two parent home and train them properly, yes some will stray, but it will not be as bad as it is today.

I cannot imagine this mother's pain. This verdict reminds me of the movie Law-abiding Citizen and how the prosecutor felt they did such a good job accepting a plea. The thing is even 25 or 50 years would not be enough, but 15 is a slap in the face. That killing was very personal and overkill. I agree more could have been done in this case from what the mother presented. The person that helped disposed of the body can possibly graduate to a higher level of crime since they were not deterred now by facing consequences. This is just sad and no his sexuality does not matter. This is just sad.

This is so sad. I am glad his family did such an honorable thing. What is the point of encouraging us to donate organs if the facilities and plans are not in place to do so? I would gladly donate my organs. Is there somewhere on our driver's license or NIB card that says that we wish to do so? I live on a Family Island and always want to donate blood, but the means are not in place to do so. There are many persons willing to donate blood and even an organ while they are alive such as a kidney, a lobe of the lung or liver, pancreas etc. or even donate after death. Unfortunately, the means of doing so in this country is nearly impossible.

If BPL is sold, would government buildings then have to actually pay their bills? Can you imagine the utility bills for the numerous government facilities which have air conditioning running year round including weekends and holidays?

This company has a horrible business model also. While many of the smaller airlines have resumed regular flights, Bahamas Air has not. They are having one flight a week to islands where other carriers are running 3 a day. This company is a drain on the country's finance. It needs to be revamped and run by actual business persons that will have regularly scheduled flights, cut down on employees, stop with all of these free trips to various persons to name a few or simply sell the company.

So they were informed by social media? Is there no official protocol in place to inform them immediately in such an incident? This is scarier than the actual accident.

The Bahamas was never for Bahamians or the not so rich ones at least. Look at how we can work in casinos, but cannot play in them. We have been systematically discriminated against in our own country. Now we are to stay inside and watch non Bahamians enjoy our country. We are restricted in travelling to other islands, but international travelers have less strict rules. We have to quarantine longer than international travelers. This has been a wakeup call
It really shows us what the people we elect think of us.
The nicely written article clearly showed the way tourists that could be infected, can interact with persons in the tourism industry. Those same workers return home to their families, they go to the food stores and other places. What other free, educated and democratic country allows its citizens to be treated less than visitors? I cannot imagine the United States allowing us and other international travelers, to travel there but have its citizens restricted. In fact is this a practice our Caribbean counterparts are also instituting?
The only thing crueler than people being victimised by persons of another nationality, is when it is your own people whipping you or treating you like you really are too stupid for your own good.
