I think that the problem caricom has is it lacks any other Integration Institutions that can be separated from the CSME. One of the reasons the Bahamas wont join is because although, having a closer cooperation with the region may be cool, we don't like all the CSME entails .(Freedom of Movement Law). So choice is either jump quickly into a union with no adjustment or stay out.
Europe has ECHR, Schengen, Eurozone, The European Council, Eurovision. All seperable from EU institutions but based around it.
The Caribbean should have Caribbean council of all island nations/caricom state(like The European Council), A common security union for military defence, peace, stability, other security like food and energy (a Nato like institution only including Democracies so no CUBA), and perhaps a common Tax union( for low tax state) like the Bahamas and British Caribbean Territories.
Privatizing National infrastructure is a very tricky thing not to be done lightly. FYI BPL is already 49% private owned to 51% government. Just so you know if we privatize BPL you cant ask the government to stop the prices from rising so easily.
Hopefully this government converts some of the decay structures downtown into housing. We need to stop cutting down forest on NP and develop brownfield sites not greenfield.
This country need Food, Energy, Economic independence in order to truly protect Bahamian interest. unfortunately the government puts national security on the backfoot.
How bout we decrease shootings by going after the weapons smugglers. do exact what was done to the pirates. Give them a pardon to give up an help the police if they dont accept hang them.
If they want make money off of peoples death/murders they must get their return share of the pain they cause. There is only so much people in this country. So the rope will close in tightly quick, we just need to be serious.
