Baha Mar Ltd. owes Bahamian creditors about $123,000,000.00. OK! that millions - for those that don't know, don't care to know or just so stupid that they don't understand the meaning of chapter 11 protection. Under chapter 11 Baha Mar Ltd don't have to pay any BILLS that it has outstanding (like my $56,000.00 bill that I have tried to have settle over the past 3 months; only to be turned around and lied to). Chapter 11 protection means Baha Mar can continue its big party in the Bahamas until it declares itself profitable and that's after repaying the Billions of Dollars it borrowed from the Chinese Government and that could run into 10 - 15 years or more.
That's if Sarkis Izmirlian and his family don't decides to jump ship and leave the Bahamas and its many creditor that trusted these guys and it wouldn't be the first time that this has happened in the Bahamas.
What is important to understand and what Sarkis Izmirlian and Baha Mar should consider is "you can't hide behind US protection laws while in The Bahamas with a big ass building ***sitting in the open*** and then tell Bahamians you are not going to pay them" trust me, that will not happen.
....our proposal addresses immediately the issues of Vehicle Plate Manufacturing in The Bahamas which will remedy the issues at the Road Traffic Department as recently reported by Mr Ross Smith. The plate Manufacturing is an immediate fix where we can have 1,000s of Secure Digital Plates ready for use in the next 30 - 60 days.
**Again** our call goes out to the Government that a *Periodical Technical Inspection (PTI) Centre with Vehicle Title Registry* and the issuance **New** Temper Resistant Digital Vehicle License Plate is critical to combating fraud in the automotive industry; and corruption in this sector as a whole. If the first stop for all vehicles entering the country was subject to a **PTI inspection** before issuance a RTD vehicle license plates and decals - stolen vehicles, vehicles with VIN numbers lifted and insurance fraud will be radically reduced if not eliminated. For me now the question is: could there be a connected for the rejection of our (PTI Centres, Digital Vehicle Plates and Title Registry) proposal and some element in the system protecting a corrupt enterprise? Just my opinion
Update: Met with the Controller of RTD where our Secure Digital Vehicle Plate and PTI Vehicle Inspection Service proposals were presented; immediately the plate proposal was said to be "not needed" due to an already arranged proposal from an "unnamed private group - in coordination with the Bahamas Prison Department."
It was said that "the arrangement would create jobs for some members of the prison population." The PTI Centres would be reviewed as there maybe an interest in PTI Vehicle Inspection in The Bahamas, as the Department move forward with modernization.
Totally agree! but the heartless benefactors of the current status quo who are bleeding the last drop of blood from Bahamians pockets will object until the country is dead and the last boat of Bahamian ship out to South Florida.
here is an interesting prospective on the debate about Bahamian women and foreign marriages:
Manila: For non-Filipino men, marrying a Filipina may be about to get tougher.
If you're a foreigner planning on tying the knot with a Filipina sweetheart, you will soon need to prove your capacity to support your bride - if Philippine Congress gets its way.
A new legislation passed on second reading in the House of Representatives on Wednesday mandating additional requirements for male foreigners to want to marry Filipinas.
“The bill shall protect Filipino women against exploitation of foreigners who marry without evident means to support a family,” Pangasinan Rep. Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, who chairs the committee, was quoted in a Philippine Star report.
The House Committee on Revision of Laws pushed for House Bill 4828, which substituted House Bill 2387 authored by Cebu Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Garcia earlier said some of the foreigners landing in the Philippines to marry Filipino women turn out to be vagabonds or social and moral derelicts in their own country.
“(For some) the real motive for marriage is only to take advantage and exploit our women by making them work for the family and worse, by sending them to prostitution and other degrading and dehumanising occupations,” she said.
“The exploitation of our Filipino women, through the so-called mail-order or pen-pal, Facebook and other internet-made marriages, has not only caused untold misery and suffering to our Filipino women but it has also brought dishonour and disgrace to the Filipino womanhood,” Garcia added.
**Under the measure, the prospective foreign husband will be required to produce a certificate of good moral character and a certificate that he has a gainful trade, business, employment or other lawful source of income to be issued by his country’s diplomatic or consular official, in addition to the usual certificate of legal capacity.**
The measure amends Article 21 of Executive Order 209, otherwise known as the Family Code.
Philippine Congress is comprised of the 24-member uppper house (Senate) and the 292-member lower house (House of Representatives)
In a Yahoo post, "Cyra" explained why some Filipinas marry foreigners. The post said: "I'm a Filipina married to a foreigner and we live in the Philippines. This (question) is something that has no easy answer and can't be generalised. In my case, we get along very well and have similar values and background."
As sad and as true as it may be I still told on to the belief that as a Bahamian I shall not allow myself to be excluded from any opportunity to contribute to the positive development of my country that I love so much – as naive as that my seem.
Utsch and MAHA, 2 of the worlds premier companies in the business of vehicle license plate production and vehicle inspection systems. These world leading companies teamed-up with Bahamian company Digital Access Control System for the production of secure digital vehicle plate production in The Bahamas, and to provide Technical Vehicle Inspection of motor vehicles. Our proposal to the Government of the Bahamas will create (150 - 200) new jobs and put the Bahamas inline with other countries where public safety, consumer protection and road safety are a legal requirement.
I pray that our proposal which is a **Bahamian** company's proposal is given the same necessary and serious consideration that will afford our group an opportunity to engage the our Government in accepting and approving our offer.
No, it’s not a problem at the prison or with the prisoners, actually – vehicle plates are not made by prisoners as is the popular belief in the Bahamas. Plates are manufactured at the Ministry of Works in a huge building that houses a huge machine called a Federal 60, really it’s a dinosaur of about 45 years old - 3 of these 60 ton beast remaining in the world – with one being here in the Bahamas. I complete digital replacement is presently being offered to The Bahamas by a Bahamian Company and its German partners. The new technology is the size of a full size refrigerator and will emboss plate at a speed of 200 pairs per hour. The proposal will make the service available in the Bahamas at no start-up cost to the Bahamas, but there will be a fee for the new digital plates. We are looking forward to Government accepting our proposal.
