The properties that are involved in this are 3 hotels; 1 casino; and 2 golf courses. To have a consortium of the best operators there needs to be a HUGE amount of negotiation and 'back and forth'. This takes time ... which is not available to Grand Bahama as it is getting to the tipping point of 'too far gone'.
i believe that the government strategy here is to purchase it from HW (don't get me going on them!!!) and then piecemeal it out to the operators in order to hasten the regeneration of the strip/island.
This is essential to the economy of GB as well as The Bahamas. Otherwise everyone will be forced to move to New Providence and that would create another set of issues.
Calling BS on the Canada comment. You are 110% incorrect.
Canada recognizes same sex couples as being equal under the law to heterosexual couples. This is what the court system ruled in the case of a couple who had been together for 30+ years and dealt with one person's pension.
Don't spread false information that if same sex relationships are legally recognized it will lead to bestiality ... it is fear mongering and not true.
For the record, I am heterosexual BUT I respect my fellow man and woman!
To clarify - I was suggesting that they inspect the cargo ships...not the cruise ships.
If Hutchison's shipping business was put into chaos for a couple of days, or a week, then they would quickly resolve the resort issue.
Hutchison were given generous incentives in order to take ownership of the resorts. The government did so in order to provide employment. Hutchison hasn't/isn't fulfilling their end of the deal. Either fine them OR hit their profitable (shipping) operations with delays.
**What other suggestions do readers have to force Hutchison's hand??**

I would be very hesitant to stand near this man ... because I think god may not appreciate his name being linked to the PLP. I know that I wouldn't!
God may decide that a lightening bolt is an appropriate response - so stay clear!!

Open the resorts NOW!
Pressure Hutchison by inspecting each and every ship coming into the port. Top to bottom...front to back .... and take your time!
Create a backup that puts their profitable operations into chaos and they will magically 'see the light'.
enough with negotiating with people that don"t care about the bahamas or more importantly the Bahamian people!!!
open the resorts!!!
