Most Bahamians are far too arrogant and hardheaded to ever realize that no one wants to inject capital into a country where consistent power or running water is non-existant. Then most of the same set complain when the foreign investors want nothing to do with the Bahamian government, and would just prefer to be left alone and remain as independent as possible.

You will find many sympathetic ears among local business owners here as well, but far too many locals that are just used to having the government give them a freebie in life. If they ever decide to open their own business/pay out of their own pocket to get an income, maybe their eyes will open. Even when the scales are ripped off, the corruption is far too deep to be overcome without significant generational change unforeseen in Bahamian history.

Well on their way there already.

You can't beat stupid sometimes, so let them figure it out on their own.

Calling the Bahamas a D-average nation is being far too generous. It baffles me that no one in charge of organizing this process saw these lines, and did not stop to think that cramming people up like sardines in the midst of a pandemic is not the best idea.

Honest to God, I expect no better anymore. Anyone with a brain has already left the country, or is in the process of leaving after all of this. The best outcome that can happen from all of this is that the US incorporates us as a territory, similar to Puerto Rico, or the Queen comes to take us back (which she won't, we would be a drain on the British economy).

>Lock down the country for months which suffocates the economy
>Open borders up with the 72hr loophole, enabling easy transmission from Florida
>Lock down the country again (for possibly months), and completely destroy the economy
>Allow thousands of people to cram up like sardines waiting on food assistance while supposedly on "lockdown" during the height of the pandemic (so far)
>New cases still occurring on Grand Bahama more than two weeks after the lockdown was implemented

Only in the Bahamas can you find this mindless course of events occurring. Are we going to remain locked down if this virus sticks around 5 or 10 years? I have yet to find another part of the world continuing these mindless procedures. Many parts of the US and Canada have realized that they need to move on with life and are living as close to normal as they can (mask mandates and social distancing not withstanding).

That would involve actually fixing the problems in this country, and not getting to complain about BPL, the Haitian invasion, government corruption, sinking economic prospects, spiraling national debt, etc. for another 50 years... we can't have that!
