Officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force seem to hold an overwhelming disdain and hate for poor young black Bahamian males; whereas, the prevalent disenchantment of this our citizenry continues without being socially and otherwise address by those in authority and those elected to bring improvement. Like an ostrich, they put their heads in a hole thinking that ignoring the issue, it will go away. WRONG!
I dare say, The LORD God Almighty will address this in short order. The voice of the people is the voice of God.
Martin Luther King Jr. said "Riots are the language of the unheard".
When the U.S.A. sneezes, the Bahamas catches the cold.
That being said, "without a vision (or visionaire) the people will perish". “…We are vested fully in the tourism and leisure market. We’re not going to walk away from that. It has been very productive for us over the years. We believe that once there is a vaccine or some treatment. . .people will start to travel again as they gain confidence and so we have to be ready for that.......#“We have to invest in that and we have to change the model a little bit I believe to more boutique and smaller resorts thereby reducing the risks of widespread transmission if we do have to live with the virus for some time but I don’t believe we can abandon, at this time, that sector,” Mr Turnquest said.
Lastly, what upset me most about the present FNM government administration is that, when they came into office, they saw this as an opportunity to get back at those who opposed them during the election. Notwithstanding their incompetence, they became belligerent and arrogant. Instead of unifying the Country they ostracized and alienated the caring and intelligent citizens from serving the people in crucial areas of concern. Now, in these times of crisis, these are the very persons who are most needed to help pioneer new economic paths.
But one cannot benefit from the banana skin that they have thrown away.
"When people send me stuff on social media that they feel are of some concern, that the police ought to look into, I will immediately send it on to the police. Bahamians as a whole, we have to be more responsible in our use of social media.”
I hope he says what he means and means what he say because I will send him something very soon. We should not tolerate pedophiles in the rank of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
Stillwaters, you don't wait until the time of crisis to elicit or look for "true character". This has to be already in place when the crisis comes around.
You talk about you'll feeling "abandoned", the person who was meant to see that you'll get home have abandoned her own post as Consulate General. She saved her own ass... she been outta there on the FIRST, not the second, the first flight.
But anyway, A solution? Adopt or rename yourselves Holowesko; miracles can happen after that. Luckier still, you may even be appointed to a government post when you get back home.
I will be looking for you (howbeit you sound insightful and sincerely concerned) to be more about action than talk when the times comes.
It is easy to look on and describe what wrong and what is needed to address the wrong but I question whether you, or anyone else for that fact, can work as a team, and, proficiently execute the task at hand.
